At my local course i was today chosen to play for the first team and i would have been the youngest ever person to represent the club at first team level at the age of 14. I swiftly accepted before finding out i had a football presentation that was impossible to get out of. I was annoyed because a lot of players were away so i do not think i will get this chance again. Oh well.  :( :(

age - 14
handicap - 12

First of all, congrats. on being picked. An unfortunate situation to find yourself in. I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities for the future as your handicap continues to fall.
Good luck!

your time will come to be a pro :)

Played for the 1st team a while back and it was an eye openser to see these single figure (and + figure) guys knock it round. I got toasted 4&3 and the guy was I think from memory 1 under gross. I know I went out in +3 gross and was 2 down!!!

Hi,
Have played a lot of team golf in the last couple of years and have to say it is the highest pressure for of golf u can play for average level golfers espically as most of the comps here are foursomes and there is usually a crowd on the first tee, playing today in one that why i'm posting on here at 8 in the morning too nervous to sleep.

I was a regular in the Firsts back in the 90's before my break. Played some really nice courses as a result.
You'll get your chance. if you're good enough now, give it a couple of years for others to move on or lose form and you'll be in.

I remember a match at Woburn. I was playing a 6 handicapper. Now a 6'er round Woburn means you're pretty good and I managed to stick with him for 14 holes until I started fading drives too much and ending up in the trees. lost 3&2 in the end. But played the Duchess in +5!!
