Day off work today, cold but dry this morning so threw the clubs in the boot and on the 1st tee with my mucker at 09.30!

Happy days. :)

Considering I haven't swung a club since the back end of September and the very wet course conditions, my front 9 went ok. A few wayward iron shots including an out and out s***k on the 6th! :o Other than a few hiccups I was hitting decent and mainly straight drives.
Struggled a bit on the back 9 but still hit some good drives and several quality iron shots.

Finished on 29 points which was a bit of a disappointment as my mate took the winnings. Nevertheless, it was great to be back out on the course after a layoff.

How are the prospects of a round looking at your gaffe?

I had my first round for around 4 or 5 weeks on Sunday. I was pleasantly surprised with how I played. I scored 40 points (calculated ona handicap of 18 even though I play off 21) and shot 16 over par. Think I should have a few weeks rest between every round!!

I only started playing in September but had my best round yet on Sunday and it was the first I had been out in 3 weeks due to weather. Unfortunately I had one hole I didn't finish due to a lost ball (couldn't believe I couldn't find it, only just off fairway, winter sun low in sky wasn't helping though), but I had 94 for the other 17 holes and considering my best for 18 had been 114 before that I was well chuffed. That said the course was playing short due to winter greens, but I figurre that was balanced by the fact putting was a nightmare on those winter greens.

Played for the first time in ages at Dunbar east links sunday morning. Only two temps and I cant believe how good the course was. Fiercely friendly fourball, got humped 3 n 2 but I hit some really good shots . Looking forward to gaining my membership there.

I haven't managed to get out for nearly 4 weeks now, beginning to seriously get the shakes
Mind you, went to the driving range yesterday, and the shakes seem to have continued, resulting in the most spectacular slice in the history of golf
On the "plus" side, I've gone to the gym in the last month instead of the course, and have lost over a stone in weight, in my vain attempt to "get fit for golf" :)

Played 12 holes yesterday, some birdies, some pars and some holes that were neither :(

It wasn't too bad but I should make the effort to get to the range at least once a week.

I played on the Sunday, and what I noticed is that the old body quickly deteriorates. I was aching like a bugger on the Monday.
just taking a couple of weeks off laying about, really showed me I need to keep my fitness up.

Moray a, where are you a member?

I had a game at the weekend for the first time in 3 weeks at fortrose. Played Ok 74 gross. Fortrose is even shorter in the winter, full greens though.

Playing my first round in 3 weeks (with no practice) on Saturday.

2nd round of the Winter Knockouts! Damn!

Hopefully not, this time round! I'm keeping everything crossed. We had a foot in the first load.

Know you guys have it much worse though.

Our Christmas texas scramble due to be played on Saturday has just been cancelled as there is still snow on the course with more forecast from tomorrow onwards. Even the driving range is closed :-|
