At long last, I played a full round today!
Using up some of my leave before the new year. Had a day off last week but the weather was apalling!
Woke this morning to find the sun streaming through the window.
HID had planned a day shopping, no jobs "around the house" for me, so a free day, to do what I wanted!
No plans required. Loaded the clubs into the car and away to the club for a long awaited round.
Unfortunately played solo. Not too bothered as my golf has surely gone rusty having not played since October!
Firstly went to the nets and swung a 7 iron to loosen up for a few minutes. Too giddy so straight onto the 1st tee.
Reasonable drive (have hit them further) but boy, did it stop quick!
Walking the fairway I found conditions very, very wet underfoot, which confirmed the lack of roll. Parred the 2nd, which was a confidence boost.
Many of the tees were mats.
and some of the holes were winter greens. Didn't even bother putting on them!
Front 9 went quite well. First few holes on the back 9 were woefull as my drives and some fairway shots went particularly right handed! However, the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th played really well, fairway shots were long if not pin point accurate.
Finished on the 18th. Drive of the mat straight into the steep sided greenside bunker, about about 9" from the lip. My bunker shot saw the ball pop up about 18" and simply sit on the edge of the bunker!!!
A delicate chip from an awkward stance had the ball 3ft from the pin. Drained it and congratulated myself on a satisfactory round.
Roll on this weekend, I'm hoping to get out again, weather permitting and as long as the course is open. (been closed due to waterlogging and ice recently!)
