first round for 3 years yesterday

Well, I finally did it. I rolled up to Haigh Hall GC yesterday and played 18 holes for the first time in 3 years. It started slowly with a 6 at the easy par 4, then it started to click and a chip in from 20 yards brought a birdie at the 2nd. I didn't really pay much attention to the card as my only target was to break a hundred. After putting the kit away, I totted up the scores and was surprised to find that I had shot 83!!!
Lessons learned..the tee mats take the shine right off my new woods.. i've lost about 20 yards on my irons.. and my putting is atrocious (for some strange reason, there appears to be a slight offset on my odyssey putter!)..
Well, sorry for boring you, but I had to brag to someone, and my missus just doesn't care about golf... so you lot will have to put up with me..

Nice score considering but guess with that bag of clubs you've played a bit in that time.

first time on a golf course for 3 years.., I have been hitting the range recently though.. Was just one of those days to be honest.. Everything from 150 in was dropped within 10 feet... Will be playing again on thursday and expecting to shoot a more realistic score.. Probably in the low 90's..

took a 3 year sabbatical after a shoulder injury which required fairly intensive treatment. Started diving again and just didnt have the time with the kids being so young. Now they are both at school, i seem to have plenty of free time during the day. This years target - get a new handicap somewhere in the low teens..
