First medal tomorrow

Do you normally go to the course early to practice,if so ,ok ,if not ,dont do anything differently to what you normally do!,if you want to hit a few balls, just use your wedge to try and get a bit of rhythm in yoour swing, use the shots you have, but dont put to much pressure on yourself, most of all,go out and enjoy it,play well mate, sure you will!!!!..

I know it'll be difficult but try and play carefree as if it was just another game with mates.
If you start thinking strategies and they dont come off then its easy to get despondent on a hole and before you know it you've had an 8!!
Just enjoy the fact that you are playing in a medal and relax!
P.s. If you manage to do this please let me know how!! :p

Dont go to the practice area early thinking your going to cure something that isn't working. Its just for a warm up get those body parts moving and calm down.

1st Tee shot - you'll be nervous (99.999% are), make sure your ball is behind the tee markers, deep breathes, couple of practice swings, swing it easy and away you go

Play your own game, don't follow your partners

However you play, enjoy your round!

Good luck :D

What has been said above really. Don't change your routine, it might do more harm than good.

I'm heading down to the club slightly earlier tomorrow to get some time on the practice green, mostly because I never seem to get a feel for the greens until the 4th or 5th hole otherwise! Other than that my pre-game routine will be the same.

I may very well be taking my 2 iron off the 1st instead of the driver though :D

OK - I assume you will loosen up first, then putt and then putt again and again.

On the tee ... put your club head on the line between the white markers and place your teepeg BEHIND it .. no room for any argumemts from your fellow players.

Assuming the first is a par four .. the game is to get rid of any nerves so hit the fairway, never mind what TIM says - size does not matter!! Better 190 yards on the fairway than 220 in the rough with all the field piling up behind you .. it's not, it just feels this way .. so a 3 or even a 5 wood for safety!

Apart from that just enjoy, by the third tee you will be 'one of the boys' and relaxed and wondering what all that problem on the first hole was all about.

Looking forward to hearing about your battle with the ball!

Just relax. Everyone gets nervous and don't try too hard. If you have any doubts about how to proceeed (free drop, penalty drop etc) ask before doing anything. Try and get out of trouble the shortest route, don't panic and ENJOY

Cheers guys I've played with my partners many times so that's ok one is a good friend and the other two are good senior types so plenty of info etc, downside side is it's raining cats and dogs at the moment!!

Well this morning is completely different, sunglasses and suncream needed instead of waterproofs! Right I'm off to do battle with the little White ball!!

me too, good look bud! I am hoping to learn a little about medal play today, never shot under 90 :(

Well I fought the ball and the ball won!! Highest round in a long time!! It wasn't just medal nerves as I felt quite carm and treating it as any other round. Hit utility off the tee on first good clean contact, 5i just ran into fringe out back of green. Chip not great 2 putts equals bogey. Happy with that. After that it all went down hill including 2 x 10's!! Ah well I'm gutted but live to fight another day just need to knuckle down over next few weeks.

The good points were that my chipping was decent and putting alot better and actually had a lowest round in putts terms at 34. Which just goes to show how bad the rest of my game was!! After the first nine and the round was already lost I brought the big dog out, conservative didn't work! Actually felt I played better, yes it cost me a couple of holes as my slice is now a slight draw/hook depending on the severity! On the 13th I actually boomed one straight done the middle to where I usually hit it although playing off the whites I was a good 20-30yds further back. Although on the 15th it was 3 off the tee as the first went a bit too far left into the trees! So overall I need to reclaim the form of a couple weeks ago and be more consistent and straighten the drives alittle.

Thanks for reading!

We've all been there, and I assure you it does get better.

Its all about cutting out the big scores, taking your medicine and working on your weaknesses.
