I have not been playing for months because of injury and today was my first lesson since my recovery. Last time I played was terrible thinning everything with occasional fat for good measure.

My coach said straight away it is because my head and shoulders are coming up on the back swing. He showed me on a video camera and I was shocked just how much I moved when I thought I was staying still. Also worked on posting my left leg and making my coil weighted over my left side.

Felt great after a while and I cannot wait to get to the range tomorrow and work on what he taught me. Plenty to work on but plenty of positives to take away too.

Always good when you find the root cause of the problem. The issue now is working on the drills he's given you and getting rid of them. Call me mad but I actually enjoy it, working on a change knowing that it'll benefit my game in the long term. I worked on compressing down more over the winter and it is beginning to really show signs of coming together now. I just need a bit of consistency, a short game (Saturday will sort that) and a little bit of good fortune

I've always found it shocking looking at the videos!

In you mind you swing it like a pro and then you see the video footage that confirms why you are hacking it so badly!!

+1 !!

I've just posted the same thing on another thread. I was horrified to see that I didn't actually look like Ernie Els swinging :D

Yeah it was a shock but like Homer says it is nice to know what it actually is and getting drills to try and fix it. He said my posture and set up are very good but I completely throw it away lifting on the back swing. If I can get that sorted over the next few weeks I will be getting somewhere.
