Club Champion
There I was standing on the 9th tee at Hatfield London, Essendon, with my golfing partner's V2 Raptor which he had leant me in hand. The whites were well set back from the 475 yd marker and I nailed the drive down the middle leaving me about 210 yds to the green. I took my Cleveland Hi Bore 3 wood and sent it towards the right side bunkers. It drew slightly and Marc said it was just short of the green. Marc had gone right and as we approached the green I could not see the ball - I assumed my ageing eyes had deceived me and it was in the bunker - but no. Marc jokingly said look in the hole but I walked towards the back of the green anxious I could not see my ball as there was water to the left. Still could not see it so I excitedly looked in the hole and starring up at me was my Srixon soft feel with 'R' for Robin looking proudly up at me - my first albatross; I've never had a hole in one so the next best thing. A loud shout of glee and warm hand shake from Marc - what a feeling! Also one up in our game!
A special thanks to Marc for being such a great golfing partner; to A1 Nevada Golf for providing the equipment; and a special thanks to my wife and children for their understanding and support in my golfing exploits. The nightmare of the Golf Monthly Belfry competition on the Brabazon is now well behind me!
