Just out of interest where do you play?
Perhaps a bowling club could be the answer, with only one green to keep nice , no ruff to cut , no bunkers to rake, no trees to trim, no water hazards to keep tidy .
Then you have no new balls or irons to buy , no handicap to worry about.
Come to think of it , the way I'm currently playing , it might suit me .![]()
You need to forget about the score, forget about the numbers and just enjoy being out in the fresh air, the smell of freshly cut grass and look at the course architecturally.
While playing a round there are so many worse places to be.
Given his job, I suspect the smell of more freshly cut grass is the last thing he wants.
If you're not interested any more, or don't enjoy it, then don't do it. If you miss it, you'll come back renewed. Or else you'll find something else you enjoy even more (not possible really, but you could try)
The best solution is to ask the missus if she wants the house painted and decorated. You'll be surprised how quickly you regain a passion for golf.
