Went out today and played a proper scoring round with my new z-star balls today and shot my lowest score of a gross 92 and 40 points of a unoficial 25 handicap.

Heres what my card looked like.

Hole par score putts
1. 4 5 2
2. 4 5 2
3. 4 5 2
4. 3 5 4!
5. 4 4 1
6. 4 4 1
7. 4 7 2
8. 4 5 3
9. 3 3 1

10. 5 7 2
11. 3 3 1
12. 4 4 1
13. 3 4 2
14. 5 5 2
15. 4 7 2
16. 5 8 3
17. 4 5 1
18. 4 6 2

Just a shame i had a 4 putt on the first par 3 when i was only about 20 foot away for birdie but least it didn't seem to affect my putting too bad as i had two 1 putts on the next 2 holes.

I hit 6/13 fir and apart from the 6th where i hit a big slice and the 15th where i hit a big hook into the trees i only missed the rest by a little bit.

I only hit 3 gir, the 4th, 8th and the 14th so maybe my approach shots need to be worked on abit but apart from that i'm well happy and it's nice to see a winter of hard work starting to finally pay off!

:D

Norks, should have previewd my post before posting it as the scores bit aint worked out right but i'm sure you can figure it out :)

Very well played - it's great when it starts coming together and you can string some good shots together over 18 holes.

I'm moving the same way as you and have to say it does feel good!

Well Done.

That unofficial 25 will soon be an unofficial 18!. :D

Well it will be official when i enter 3 comps starting from april :)

I was hoping my first handicap would be about 25 and my aim was to get down to 20 this year but it looks like i may have to aim lower which aint a bad thing i suppose! :)

Good shooting Bozza, isn't it great when it all comes together. I play off an official 25h/c but i keep having one or two (different) holes that keep holding back my score.

I use Scoresaver 2 to record my scores and your % figures are similar to mine, of course your figures are on only 1 round. My driving last year was 50% (this year 54%) yours was 46%. You had 34 putts, last year I think mine was 34.1 and this year slightly more with 34.8.

Its your GIR that interest me, SS2 tell me I should make 6% (just 1 per round) but how many should we or any player over a h/c of 17 should we make? If you take the 2 putts we are playing to our h/c if we get on the green in par. For example SI1 Long par 4 uphill (our 10th) according to our h/c we are allowed to reach this green in 4 shots and then take 2 putts, so my question is, shouldn't our GIR be 4 shots and not two.
We have 4 holes at my course where i cant go for the green in two due their difficulty (SI 1,3,4,5) SI 3 and 4 have great big ponds in front of them which mean even the low h/c dont go for them unless they have hit very good tee shots. I actually try and play these holes as a par 5, but its really screws your GIR figure up. :( :(

Any way keep up the good scoring :) :) and keep us up to date on how you get on.

I'm not really sure on that but you do have a point, if we get 2 shots on a par 4 then maybe a GIR for us would be 4 shots then 2 putts for a par. There is a couple of par 4's at my course that even if i hit it perfect off the tee (about 220yards) your still left with a good 200 yards to the green. I just try to play them as a par 5 and hope for a 4 at best and will take a 5.

What i was pleased with most that round is that out of the GIR i hit, one was a par 3, one was a par 4 and the other a par 5 so it was a nice even spread.

I'll keep you updated how i do on sunday morning when the pressure will be on!
