Finally stepped up and joined a club for the first time (http://www.hassocksgolfclub.co.uk/)

A Nice little set up and 5 mins door to door.

1st round as a member tomorrow, so will be getting my first 3 cards in quick, as aiming to play off =<20 by year end.

Just out of interest, are you still at the first club you joined?
- What kept you / What made you leave?
(Excluding Geographically)

Cheers from an excited young man! :D

nice one TT, still looking to join my 1st and get a handicap sorted (nearly 40 y/o but better late than never).

I nearly bit the bullet this month but christmas has killed my spends for a month or 2.

Bet you can't wait to get out there :)

p.s £670 for a 7day is bang on, wish they were that price round here ;)

Cheers mate, yeah it's £200 cheaper than anywhere with 10miles I think?!

Work up in watford, so know why those moor park prices are like!

good luck Trig,
Hope there's a nice crowd for you to join there or have you already got mates at the club?
I joined the local Muni club just about 10 years ago now, obviously the cheapest fee around my area but I would be pushed to join a private club now what with the joining fee as well.
Keep it on the short grass ;)

yeah, I am going to have a good look around this month for somewhere, 9 hole will do as its only to cut my teeth into as only took up golf towards the end of last year (beginning November I think)

keep us posted on how it goes

yeah I nearly joined it this month but 90 squid a month...

got a load of 241 vouchers and free round vouchers so will use them up when the weather gets a tad better then look at a club in the spring (fair weather angler already so might aswell make that golf aswell ;) )

Well done Trig.
Joined my first in '93 and got my first handicap of 15 a month later.
Left 3 years ago and joined a better course. Old course was very bland, new course isn't.

Had a look at Hankley Common today and it was £1295 for subs with 3 times that for joining fee  Just over £5k for your first year ffs

Good luck with your golf TT

Obviously over subscribed and dont need members... :o

Or, have lost touch with the normal man and havent adjusted pricing to current circumstances nationwide.

Welcome to the joys and frustrations of club golf TT.

Just used GolfShot to see how many courses I have within 10 miles....

42!!! bloody hell. I obviously didn't do a lot of research before joining my club...I've only played at about 6.

I'm still at my first club, but then I only joined in October! So far so good, course holding up in the bad weather, members friendly have tagged along with a few and my game is improving so can't complain!

A nice little course there and the subs are reasonable for sure. Give me a shout of you fancy a game, i'm in Ditchling so just down the road. Enjoy!

I know a couple of people there, seems friendly and easy to get against all abilities

Good to see you have joined TriggerTech, especially as it's where I play! Very friendly club so I'm sure you'll soon get to know members.

Good luck with your handicap cards - you can then play in the comps. When I first played in comps the members were always very supportive. I particularly remember one time when I'd had a very good front 9 score and carried it on and from the 12th onwards they all gave me support and encouragement all the way to the 18th. I ended up winning my first Stableford comp. :).

Good luck.

Apologies, my iphone predictive text isnt the best.

Snap - Sounds good, we will sort something. Where else do you play?

GolfMad - looking forward to getting out tomorrow, want to get my 3 cards in before 5th Feb - think thats the next medal isnt it? Just wondering, in addition to the weekly comps is there anything to arrange friendly games with other members?

The next weekend comp is Sunday 6th Feb, which is a Stableford. You should be able to get a club diary from the office, usually only cost a £1. All the dates are in there. Also,(if you want to) you can get details to access the members website.

There is a list of members wishing to get a game on the notice board.

Good luck tomorrow, and hope you get over the 11th :)
