Fife - Non-Links tracks

Correct Karen its in Angus about a 40 minute drive North from Dundee. Muckhart is a cracking course and heard good things about Pitreavie in Dunfermilne which is just over the Forth Bridge

I've played pitreavie a few times although not for many years now. Always enjoyed it but not sure it's worth a trip from Manchester.

If you want an impressive clubhouse then Dunfermline GC has one that'll satisfy. No idea of the track is any good. First glance fro clubhouse it looks very parkland and level (not that that is a bad thing)

Might also be worth looking at Angus as well.

Panmure (heathland )and Monifieth (mixture of Links and Heathland)

I would also consider the wee course at Blairgowrie, its fantastic and by far the best 9 hole Ive ever played.... could fit the bill nicley.

Not so sure I would rush to play Muckhart anymore. A great set of courses and a once decent club left in the hands of incompetents.
I will be looking to move on once this years subs have ended.

What has been happening? Was a member there for a couple of years and always quite happy to be honest. Is it to do with the housing thing that was being talked about?

Pitreavie is worth a look if you are going past that way!

Ladybank definitely!

Dukes possibly - depending on time of year/weather!

Played the first 2, but quite a long time ago. Dukes on advice from other contacts!

Scotscraig sounds another prospect, albeit not entirely 'non-links'!

If people are worried about The Dukes being wet at that time of year, Ladybank won't be much different. They can both get wet but are both still worth the visit.

Cupar and Anstruther are cracking, good value 9 holers if you fancy a quick knock. Anstruther features a brilliant hole called The Rockies, voted as the toughest Par 3 in the UK by another magazine. Believe me it is tough!! I was delighted with a bogey there.

They got rid of the steward, cook and the pro to save money. Replaced the cook with agency chefs (that can't even get bacon right) and have been replaced about 5 times in the last year. And having to now pay people to manage the shop so the savings are up in smoke.
The green staff has been reduced and the actual greens, which have been our highlight year after year, were very poor this year with some areas of the course looking very unkempt.
Lastly, the seniors have taken over the running of pretty much everything and are running it pretty much for their benefit and their benefit only. The secretary is also questionable in his ability to run a club (and he spells today as to-day which does my nut in!)

It's not a very happy place at the moment and seems to get worse week on week. I don't think it will still be in existence in 2 or 3 years time.

That is really a shame, I used to enjoy an annual outing there with work and the course was always in good shape.

Is the secretary still DL ?,what about Scotscraig country membership £408 if your 30 miles away

Yes and he has done nothing for the club. There appears to be no plan other than let the seniors take over.
Scotcraig is a great course and £408 is a great price but it's 45-50 minutes each way still so probably look at Pitreavie first and then Pitfirrane after.
