Heading up to Fife late April next year, have a couple of games booked and looking at 1, possibly 2 more.

To mix it up I've been thinking about what non0links tracks are up there, something I've never really looked at. Lady bank seems to be reasonably rated, are there any others worth a look?

Ladybank is well worth playing mate, haven't played it for years but is a cracking track.

I've always fancied Scotscraig, the Dukes course looks pretty spectacular but not sure how it drains. Downfield is worth playing aswell but again might be a little damp that time of year.

How local do you want to stay? Driving to Blairgowrie or Gleneagles an option (probably an hour at most) aswell.

Another vote for Ladybank. Cracking track.

The Dukes is a cracking course, but every time I've played it, it has been soaking wet. Bunkers everywhere too.

Depending on where you're staying, I'd consider the two Kinross courses. I personally prefer the Montgomery of the two.

Thanks for the advice. Can't be doing with more driving son close to St Andrews the better.

Ladybank looks a good shout. Thought Scotscraig was a links track to be fair?

Had forgotten about factoring in the rain :)

Ladybank and Scotscraig are two good shouts.

Would also add Aberdour into the mix, parkland that sits right on the edge of the forth with some cracking views and a tremendous opening pair of par 3's.

I know it's in Angus - but what is Letham Grange like these days. I played it not long after it opened and they were touting it as a future 'Augusta-like' course.

A shambles thats what it is I'm afraid , ran by the members who do a sterling job to be fair. The Dukes far to early in the year to play there mid May is your best option there, Scotscraig isn't a links mate

I do feel a bit grubby thinking about it! Would only be done of managed to squeeze 4 in.

The Tom Morris connection @ Ladybank gets me a bit of credit back though?
Ladybank is a heathland course. have played a lot of heathland courses, and it is definitely up there.

Bit of a shame to hear that, played it probably 17/18 years ago with an old work society and there was some great holes on it.

Its had problems with owners and such like and needs some serious investment , 2 lads on my shift are members there and they try there best as it could be a cracking course.

Ladybank has been on my hit list for years, very highly regarded. I really enjoyed scotscraig although it's a mix of linksy and parkland - Steve knows best how to categorise it. Edzell is good but maybe further north - is it Angus? How about muckhart?

Correct Karen its in Angus about a 40 minute drive North from Dundee. Muckhart is a cracking course and heard good things about Pitreavie in Dunfermilne which is just over the Forth Bridge
