FedExCup explained

It's definitely weird. It's supposed to be the top 130(?) yet there are names here I've never heard before (Leishman, Dufner - who he?) and some I don't recall getting any Top 10's (Luke Donald).

And where are the likes of Sergio, Jimenez, Westwood? Have they not won enough then? Just shows how much money there is to be won I suppose.

I think they let in how they want ,Tiger comes along plays 4 weeks on the bounce ,hoovers up a shed load of cash thank you very much ,will see you next season and everythings rosie again with the PGA Tour and Finchem keeps his job for another year, simples :D

Steve K has got it right. The idea is orgy of Tiger coverage just as TV ratings for golf drop due to US College Football season. Tiger gets nose firmly in large trough of cash. Other bit players add some minor drama, all happy.

The format doesn't really work for golf because players (apart from a small few) don't maintain form as consistently as football teams, say, so there is a large element of unpredictability. Finchem has tried to weight the points so that the season;'s best players now get through to the end. Sergio just hasn't played well all season.

Luke D would not be there were it not for the Open finish.

That's true. If it weren't for his Open result, his other top 10's and making plenty of cuts he wouldn't have done very well this year. Also, if Tiger hadn't won 5 tournaments this year he wouldn't have. If Harrington hadn't had so many top 10's once his game came back a little he wouldn't be there.

Good observation.

Villegas - 42
Casey - 52
Singh - 81
Jimenez and Westwood not listed in top 255

Bit harsh on Luke Donald there, he has had 6 top 10s this year and only missed 2 cuts!

apologies to Luke then. that's what happens when all you had was Setanta and EuroSport have hardly taken up the coverage.

Eurosport at least shows the coverage, however It can crawl along sometimes without any proper commentators.

If anyone saw the coverage of The Barclays at The Liberty National Golf Course in New Jersey the setting was quite stunning... even if the course is a bit mickey mouse.

I watched Eurosport's coverage this weekend. Those Yankie commentators are quite hopeless. But at least I've learnt a new golfing term.
