My first visit to an Open was 1977, the duel in the sun. Watson and Nicklaus were playing a different game to the rest of the field. Hubert Green came what seemed a distant 3rd, but in reality he played fantastic golf. And it wasn’t a fluke. He also won the US Open that year.
And a damn fine guy too. So sad......
