Lads, do you have any plans to get a new forum loaded - the format of this one is terrible, its really not that user friendly and deosnt load correclt in IE8. Compared to football forums, GolfWRX et al - this is miles behind. The content on here is great but usuability is shocking not what I would expect from the UK's Premier Golf publication :)

Help us out man!

I have to agree it is dated that's for sure. However it works!

As I said a couple of weeks ago, the Fj crap down each side is really starting to annoy me, I appreciate its advertising income, however does it need to be on both sides sandwiching the forum???

What would you suggest JJF69?

Also who gave you permission to buy that golf bag?

If you think this is bad, go and have a look at some of the colour schemes on other forums, overclockers is a good techy forum for a start but looks dreadful with the dark blues.

Just drag the sides of your browser in and you cant see them. To be honest I forgot that they were even there, been that long since I seen them!

To the OP - I find this forum much easier to use than any of the other golf forums that ive came accross. Admittedly the forum does have it's faults, but Smiffy has as much right to use this forum as everyone else :D

Old but fine, remember this does not make them any money and its all about content.

I would not change it if I were them... you should see the Todays Golfer forum, it flat out sux and has no content.

I think it does the job pretty well. Bear in mind this is a bolt on to the day to day job of producing the magazine and as far as I'm aware doesn't have a dedicated resource looking after it (however Mike if you want to change that........). As others have said look at others (TG is a bit of a ghost town) and you'll see we don't do too badly. The GM guys know they can stick something on here and it'll get seen without any problem. If it ain't broke and all that

it has its quirks but works well enough, most of the time. the muted colours are restful to weary eyes at dark o'clock, certainly nothing worth a major rebuild.

It's fine for me & it's certainly better than the BBC forums.

Guys, Im not talking about spending a £100k doing a front and back end rebuild, just little things like bigger viewing area, preview hover, who the last poster on a thread was etc.

Content here is great - just find it difficult to use, hence why I dont post that much.

Don't fix it if it's not broke. I can see what I want to see, post what I want to post and frankly am not interested in bells and whistles. I would guess that 90% of the regular users would be the same. I am not a technophobe having worked in IT for 20+ years but what I have come to realise is that IT is the worst culprit for change for changes sake upsetting regular users of just about any software. Keeps highly paid contractors in work though. :D

£100k on something that essentially is not needing any work would be a hard thing to justify in the current climate. As said, it is not as if this is their main interface with readers.

It may not be bonny but it works.
