Bobert,

Good thread on quick fix for the slice fella, i'm sure it will help many, now, using the same kind of graphics can you show me how to hit a draw with a driver?

I want to go to the range after work tonight and practice it if its not too hard ;)

While I get a coffee, what do you call a draw? Starts a bit right and finshes up down the middle?

Ok, assuming your swing is straight to start with , to start the ball down the right, you need to aim a little right
To draw the ball around those corners, you need to close the clubface at impact. I would suggest you do this at address by opening your grip, closing the face a touch then taking your grip again, Dont just turn the face in with your hands.
If you aim right, the ball will start right but with the clubface closed it will spin the ball right to left.
One small tip...when you close the face, you lose loft so as you have a 9.5 driver, try it with your 3 wood first.

Experiment with the clubface position and aim and see how much the ball turns in the air. But remember, dont try and hook it back with your body, let the clubface do the work.
If you are bending and iron around trees, remember this shot will go further, so club up. If its a 6 iron shot try a 7
Anything else you want? Shopping? ironing? Dog walked? ;)

I've tried this down the range before now, and I can't suss out why I invariably end up with a HUGE push slice.

My main swing thought is to make sure I get plenty of hand action going.

Any ideas why it goes so wrong ?

My stock shot is a straightish shot with just a swizel of late fade, btw :D

It sounds to me as if you are aiming to the right ok, hence the push, but the club face is still open at impact.
Try closing the face at address and see if it helps
Although, if you normal swing is just a small fade at the end, I wouldnt change it :D

Had a go today Roberto, and the results werent great it has to be said!! lol

I tried about 15-20 balls ish, I got 3 to draw nice, they were very low as you said though. The rest were a mixture of going dead straight or a block straight left.

Still, I got 3 to go so I must've done something correct those 3 times!!

To be honest i'm still getting used to my new driver swing path and it felt really weird trying to hit the ball with the face closed.

Too much going round in my head.... :D

If its any consolation I cant hit a draw this way either! I can see how it should work, but mine usually go exactly where I am aiming.........way out right!
Try this - set up as you normally would but try your hardest to hit the ball out to the right.....pick out a target on the range way out there. This will encourage you to swing in to out. If you manage to square the club face, this will result in a draw.
I am not a teaching pro though (and only play off 17!), so please feel free to ignore this!

Bob
Please shoot me down if this is bull! Its how I was taught how to hit a draw and it works for me........sometimes :)

because im strange i just think to myself 'hit a draw' and i hit one ;), i seem to be able to maipulate my swing just by visualising the shot shape i want. probably not going to help any of you but maybe visualising the shot ur trying to produce might prepare your body to release your club head at the correct moment. and as you have probably guessed im no pro, but give me a year ;)

Tried again today Bobert whilst on the course, tried 3 times in total.

1st - came straight off the shank!
2nd - straight as a dye down the middle of the fairway
3rd - straight block left, but as I was aiming right ended up being down the middle

Where am I going wrong fella?

Ok, sorry, lots going on here
If you look at my post with the picture in it, I started by saying 'Ok, assuming your swing is straight to start with'
I've just looked again at your swing in the other thread and I'm afraid its a little out to in. That makes it difficult for you to draw the ball.
Without rebuilding the swing to make it more in to square to in, it would be very difficut for you to hit this shot.
But never fear. Some of the top pros found it diifcuolt to draw the ball, Monty springs to mind.
Are you playing at Beau tomorrow?
