Hello Guys

just looking for some thoughts as to which we prefer,

thinking about changing my old wooden fairway woods.

cheers

Scott

I have a 3 wood at 15 degrees, a 17 degree hybrid and 21 degree hybrid and have been trying a 14 degree 3 wood to get a better spread. I think it depends on what you play best. If you hit irons best - go for a hybrid rather than a wood and vice versa if you hit woods better. You can get so many different hybrids that you could find one that suits you. Go and try as many as you can before buying.

Both work well, it's important to get the right balance though. I wouldn't go for a very low degree Hybrid, equally I'd only go for a 3/4 (low launching) wood, nothing like a 5 wood for me

I have a 3 wood, which I use on tighter tee shots and longer par 5's. Plus, I don't get along with my 3 iron that well, so a 3 hybrid covers that extra distance... Plus I find it easier out of the rough etc.
I know a lot of shorter hitters who prefer hybrids because they find them easier to hit than the longer irons.
All preference I guess!

Currently gaming an amp 3w-15* and a amp hybrid 17* then 4i - if I'm honest the gap between the hybrid and 4i is too much, and a 2h out the 1st cut can hit at miss, seriously considering dropping the 2h, adding a 5w and a 4h maybe.

Ive a 13.5 deg 3 wood, i don't have to use it off the tee much, its more for off the fairway.

and a 17deg hybrid or a 2 iron depending on conditions.

I gone for the RBZ 3wood HL + a TM 22* rescue. The rescue is adjustable, which means I can tweak it to fill the gap better.

I've got a 3 Wood, and then 19 deg and 22 deg Hybrids.

Unless you're a strong hitter I don't think that there's much distance advantage between a 5 wood and 2/3 hybrid, but the hybrid tends to offer a bit more forgiveness for me and more versatility.

15deg 3 wood and a 21 deg rescue for me

Not hitting the 3 wood consistently enough off the deck, but good off the tee. Looking to resolve that at the range over the winter.

Although no great need for 3 wood on my course so maybe looking for a wee bargain 19deg 5-wood to pop in there....

No hybrids for me anymore. Just ordered my 3 iron to complement my G20 4i-9i's which I had fitted in January.

I have learnt and accepted at last that accuracy is more important than distance so the hybrids have gone!

Have both bagged

15* 3 wood
18.5* 5 wood
22* hybrid

Get a lower penetrating flight from the 5 wood compared to the higher softer landing from the hybrid, about 15/25 yards of a difference between them depending on weather conditions
