Hi looking to buy a 3 wood, that leaves me room for 2 clubs between that and my irons around 19 deg and 22 deg can't decide weather to get hybrids or a 5 and 7 wood
Thoughts please

I have a 5-7 wood set at 6 and a 5 hybrid. The wood goes up to 200, the Hybrid is my 170-180 club. Perfect fo me when playing well.

Personally I would go 5 wood then a hybrid, but make sure you have the clubs to hit the right distances you need so the gapping is right for you.

Hybrids usually have slightly shorter shafts and are easier to hit, especially out of semi-rough, but don't go quite so far as a well struck fairway wood from a good lie. Your choice probably depends on how long a hitter you are, and how often you find the fairway off the tee.

the best ways to accomplish the right choice is first know for sure what distance the realistic average the 3 metal travels in terms of carry then also what distance the average 4i travels in terms of carry you know then a fair approximation of the gap distance in terms of yards has to filled to then test some metals or/& hybrid (or utility iron) again looking at carry with the clubs trialed

I have a 19 deg hybrid, was ideal at the time but I need a 5 wood now as they are easier to hit. I found the hybrid had a more penetrating flight which suited a long running exposed course.

I would probably go hybrids down to the 5i then start at the 6 if I bought a set now.

you wouldn't go far wrong with a 22&19 hybrid or a 22 hybrid and 5 wood.
Watch those gaps though a 5 wood can carry as far as a 3 wood for us mortals, all about the distance gaps and how comfortable you are hitting fairway woods or hybrids

Personally I'd go for a five wood and three hybrid as its what suits my needs on the course I play. Do you have long par threes that may need a five wood distance or semi rough that doesn't always suck the ball down and where a hybrid gets it out well

I could do with a 5 or 7 wood I think for our 14th and 18th plus maybe our 10th par 3 to give me enough distance to get there on windy days when its in your face. Think I may look out for a 7 wood.

I am in a similar situation and trying to decide on either a 7-wood or a 20° hybrid to complete my bag. I currently have a Cobra Ballfer XL 3 wood (which in the ladies' version comes with 18 ° loft, so it feels more like a 5wood to me, it gives me a good distance of about 150 yards on a good hit), which I only hit off the fairway or very very short rough, and a Cleveland Halo 4 hybrid which I hit about 120 yards and can hit from almost anywhere. In the middle between that currently sits a cheap 21 ° Voit hybrid. On a good hit that gives me some more distance than the 4 hybrid, and it does have some versatilty, I even hit it out of fairway bunkers sometimes. The reason I want to replace it, though, is that it is a lot heavier than the other clubs, or at least it feels that way in the swing. That makes it a bit harder to control and I don't feel as confident with it as I do with the other two clubs. Plus the extra distance over the 4 hybrid is not that much. I am considering getting the Cobra Baffler XL 7wood (which has 22 ° of loft), because I am really pleased with the 3wood and guess the extra loft will make it even easier to hit. Or I could try to find another hybrid with a similar swing weight to the Cleveland Halo, but there does not seem to be much choice with the stornger lofted hybrids in the ladies' section, most manufacturers start with 4 hybrids there.

Never hit a hybrid as never felt the need, as I love my 5, 7 and 9 wood which are supplied with skirts, handbags and hair bands

Love the high flight and much easier to hit than long irons.

If you can, have both, and decide which ones to put into the bag depending on course conditions etc
