well watched the first race at the weekend
(woulda posted earlier but needed to find the images)

gotta say im not impressed already

so Button gets a drive thru ok he passed on the escape route to avoid the crash

ok i understand the reasoning

but Massa slowed down alot to let Alonso thru so he could leapfrog button too ,and then slowed down completely (and wasnt trying to take position back) so Button would almost have had to stop or at least to a crawl, therefore ensuring Button gets a drive thru

then Vettel is allowed to pass button by not staying in the confides of the track (which rules say you must do) allowing him to carry more speed into the corner and exit faster where as Button slowed to actually make the corner

i can see me getting more and more frustrated by decisions like this

I've learnt not to let stuff like that bother me and just hope that eventually the right drivers prevail.

The race was boring as hell for the most part and I can only hope things will get better, but I'm pretty disappointed thus far.

Sorry whilst i agree this was a dodgy decision. Button should have given back the place up until Massa could be seen to slow down or allow another driver especially a team mate to overtake and therefore benefit aswell. can't find away to make FIA stand for something Redbull orientated like Ferrari International Assistance when they favoured Ferrari. I think this was just a bad judgement call.

Its common sense, that if you make a dodgy pass you let the person back through, if Button had done that straight away, there would be no problem, any time the driver has to ask the team to check with Charlie, it almost always comes back that the driver is at fault and gets punished. Lets hope the rest of the races are better.

I thought the bigger problem was having Brundle and Coulthard working the commentary together. They are both analysts. You need a play-by-play guy like Jonathan Ledgard was to make it work.

Coulthard also has the squarest head of any human being on the planet. He didn't need a helmet, he just used a sturdy cardboard box.

I thought the same thing (on both counts!) although Jamie Roberts (Welsh Rugby Player) gives Coulthard a run for his money in the square head dept.

If Jenson had just put his foot on the break he would have made the turn and not needed to let anyone through.

Boring race though.

If you look at the slow mo... I'm with Jenson, he was marginally in front. This comes down to where race control says the corner starts. Which will always be in the other teams favor if maclaren is involved

yes ideally Mark
but when a driver (Massa in this case) is not trying to take that place back as it was obvious Massa wasnt 1, by letting Alonso through 2, and then falling further back trying to buy his team mate (Alonso) more of a gap to if/when Button did eventually let him pass & to then get back past Massa

And once Massa slowed down to give his place to his team mate doesnt that mean he isn't entitled to the spot which he was fighting over for with Button anymore.?

also in the case (you point out) as Vettel made a dodgy pass by going completely outside the white lines of the track (and not just only a little)....He should have let button back through?

where was his drive through then, as he didnt let button back through?

If Button had let him back through straight away the ferrari's wouldn't have been able to play their little game, all Button had to do was touch the brake and Massa would have been forced to go past. Why is it, that as golfers, the rules are self enforced, yet a professional racing driver paid millions of pounds, has to ask his team to ask the Race Controller, (Charlie), even when he should know the rules himself.

And when they did ask they weren't given an answer.

It looks like its going to be the same anti-Mclaren season as usual. Then again what can you expect with the ex Ferrari boss as head of FIA.

Yawn, is it procession season again. When do the real races aka the touring cars start again?

I get what your saying but its a bit of a myth really, least year was a really great year with some pretty special races, Oz is never the greatest race for overtaking. I still have high hopes for a good year, I just wish Michael would get his ass in gear!

Same here, I think its really sad he hasn't managed to slap the young pups down, what a race it would be if McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull, & Team Lotus were all competitive. (OK Team Lotus wont be competitive for a few more races), I would also love to see Rubens have a ding dong with Michael, let the sparks fly.

I'm enjoying F1 a lot more since I started playing the F1 2010 game. You just recognise all the corners and braking points from when you've played the game enough.
