Ok guys, FFTD and myself managed to get the last round in today, even though it was -5 (no joke) and the 1st looked like a scene from a christmas card.

Foggy to start and very frosty, even though 13 miles away at my house it wasn't.

Wont go into too much detail as my brain was too frozen to store memories for later recollecion.

FFTD plays off 28, how.... I dont know. :D The guy knocks a 4iron utility off the tee with a nice draw and his iron play isn't too shabby either. Very good for a high handicapper and if he gets enough games in next year, that will surely drop. Putting is his gripe, Ya gotta hit it Anthony, a little harder pal and most of em would of dropped today.

Anyway, match play is what we (I) decided on the first tee and I gave Anthony 10 shots, which he used really well and he managed to get 1 up by the turn. Stayed pretty close through out with some good stuff from both of us. No disasters really but a stupid 7 from me when I pushed a drive way right, I knew where it was but played a second to save a cold walk.

Sharing a pair of mittens all the way round we managed to have a really good day. Easily the coldest I have layed golf it yet still one of the most enjoyable games I have played to date with a forumer.

I ended up the Victor with a 3&2 in the end but Anthony deserved a bit more for his efforts.

Great guy, great company, a real pleasure.

Many thanks for the game mate, and best wishes for the new year!

Heres to more golfing with you guys!

P.S we finished at about 13:15. Surely someone can beat that!!!

This is the clearest, Less frosty it looked all day!

Glad you enjoyed it.
Got out of work at lunchtime and went straight to the course.
It was verrrrry cold but wrapped up well in "skin", polo & sweater and off I went.
Caught up with an old guy that I sometimes play with on 4th tee. He nailed a 40 footer on 4th green.

Nice round in crisp conditions. Hit my last iron at 1545 and my last putt at 1550. That's it for 2008 for me, not playing anymore.
Will start again next year though.

Thanks for the compliments Tony I really enjoyed today!

Did feel a bit of a bandit but I've never hit the ball that well since I started playing!

If only I could be dangerous from 100 yards in I might have had a chance.

Thanks for the game and I hope you take me up on the offer to play the Beacon in the new year.

Happy New Year to one and all!

Hey it looks beautiful there, but i cant feel the shivvery bits on a picture, I wish I had enjoyed one too! well done happy new year.

Didn't play or practice today but HID took me off to Silvermere for a look round. I know I slagged the palce off for being too expensive but have to say I may have been hasty. I got two Cutter and Buck Jumpers as their entire range was 1/2 price. They had a lot of good deals on the clothing section and TM bags were 40% and Cally bags were 1/2 price. Other than that there wasn't much to catch my eye and most things I have seen cheaper online.

Well done to anyone who braved conditions today. I nipped up to the club at lunchtime. Every green was a temporary and it looked pretty grim out there. Good report from TonyN and well done to him and FFTD.

I might go and hit some balls tomorrow but doubt I'll risk a round. I'm playing with HTL on Saturday and have a winter knockout on Sunday so I need to make sure my game is in shape (especially against HTL!!!)

Hope the putter was behaving forefortheday.

And looking forward to the 3rd Homer, warming up with a few beers myself.

Yep I played yesterday (New Years Eve) it was about -1 where we were and full temp greens (thats a first for me at this club). Played with a mate and both our wives. The ladies both started playing about the same time just towards the end of the summer last year. We thought we would have a match girls V boys, we gave them 2 shots per hole........and got beat 3 and 2.

The new driver I got her for christmas, she was hitting about 160/170. That and temp greens we didn't stand a chance.

Just been down to my club, I expected to see quite a few cars today, there were a grand Total of 3. I never seen 1 person out on the course and when I got back the club, it was a case of leave the key under the plant pot.

Warmer today too at -1. Tell ya what, the mittens are a god send.

Hope the putter was behaving forefortheday.

And looking forward to the 3rd Homer, warming up with a few beers myself.

To qoute Mr Faldo HTL the problem is with the Putee not the Putter.

Spent a lot of time hitting everything 4 foot past now I'm always short hopefully the next phase is dead on!

Still loving the Odyssey though sir, hope you are enjoying the Spider.

Went down to the range today for a great session. Hit a lot of good shots (and a few I'd rather forget) but I did come away with an air of confidence that my first game of 2009 tomorrow may not be all bad. I just hope we are back on proper greens tomorrow.

Well done, guys
We played at Tewkesbury Park on Wed in v, similar conditions, i.e. scenery picturesque but not the golf! of three of us I did best at 31 points. All greens were temp and icebound - we gave putts from within a clublength. On the whole I enjoyed being out there - no wind and in some ways less cold than days when the temp has been higher. And not many people around - wouldn't fancy hanging around in that weather!
By contrast our own club in Bristol has been rammed all week with holiday pay and players - queues most of the morning. They must be making a fortune!
