Evening,

I went to the range this afternoon to try and iron out a couple of things............then i started hitting balls and found more problems than i originally went to the range with, i think i hit every bad shot in the book!!!

Out of a bucket of 50 balls, i maybes hit 5-10 'good shots', and they rest were just abysmal.

So in a desperate attempt to feel beter for myself, im wondering if you guys have had similar occasions......????

Yes but rather than stop at 50 I tend to continue, bucket after bucket trying to play myself out of the lull only to achieve nothing but blisters and mental scars then wish I had called it a day at 50. . Then go home and kick the cat on my way in.

Yup,yesterday i could count on one hand how many good shots i hit, but today i missed 1 fairway of the tee, its a daft game right enough

Happened to me recently. And was shank after shank... Worst thing you can do is just continually hit ball after ball imo.

Best thing to do is practice without the ball and breakdown the swing then gradually build back up with ball

Very much so. Then I strated having lessons.

I hit some balls for the first time in 2 weeks yesterday.

I hit, out of 100 balls, about 10 bad and 1 shocker.

I can live with that.

Out of interest how do you start your range sessions? Is it straight to the driver or a decent warm up with wedges etc working through the bag?

Yes, and very recently, in fact, I really don't like going to the range. I can have a really bad time at the range the day before travelling for a game only then to have a really decent knock, I actually avoid going to a range now because of it, I'd rather get out on the course, even if its just for a 4 or 5 holes.

I make sure I play everything of a tee at the range. Anything off the matt is a shank and once you have corrected that you go to the course with a new swing that thins everything. My advice always tee it up.

I start my range sessions the same as I warm up prior to a round at the course.

Start with some gentle wedges, then move to a short iron, then a mid-iron.

That said. If I'm at the range to work on something specific from a lesson, I'll usually just hit a few wedge shots, then move onto what my pro wants me to work on.

I rarely hit my driver at the range.

That said. I am more recently as it's one area of my game I'm working on with my pro at the minute.

My first 10 or so shots are like I have never ever hit a golf ball before!!! Literally. Then I remember what I am doing, and the rest is a mixed bag! #Noob
