Eurovision

I think the UK could win if they send Adele, Robbie Williams or resurrect the Spice Girls. They have a pull all over Europe and the world.

Otherwise I don't think so. If you are from Eastern Europe or Scandinavia or from the Mediterranean countries you get to like a certain kind of music, which is played in your country, and the ones around you. That's what you vote for. I don't think the voting is that political, it's just that the UK is geographically fairly isolated, so the music selected for competition here is not spread out that much into other european countries.

There is the music that pulls all over the world, but if you are one of them, would you bother with Eurovision? Who is the last 'star' from any country participating?

You'd think so but as the votes aren't cast by the public I still think there will be block voting irrespective of who we rolled out including the big names. Add in no-one would bother unless they were on skid row and want a last punt at fame and it won't happen abd we're destined to be in the bottom third every time

cant be arsed to look it up buti'm sure you are wrong. i think 50% of the scoring is based on votes cast by the public in each country, with the other 50% of the scoring based on votes from industry professionals in each country.

I stand to be corrected however

The UK is now going with a former x-factor contestant (again?)

Well, she was vaguely loved by people in the UK 7 years ago. Maybe it's enough popularity.
The song is quite nice, but not necessarily what pulls in the competition. Maybe they have an ice skater with a violin to sass it up on the day.

Scoring is 50/50 between experts and public. The experts are actually scoring on the day before on the rehearsal.

You may be right and I was guessing too. Either way, with 50% assuming you're right, still cast by industry professionals, I am sure they will have their own agenda and allegiances, and the votes may not be based on the quality of the song

I love Eurovision. I settled in for our one but after 5 minutes the TV was off. Yadda yadda yadda by some moron trying to make it something it's not. JUST ANNOUNCE THE SONGS AND SING THEM !!!!!. The best song didn't win I notice (I'd listened to them three days before). Hey ho, last place again! Anyone want to come to my party????
