Etiquette

I don't mind noise when I'm taking a shot, I tend to be oblivious of it. Someone stopped me teeing off once because he said a train was approaching - what train, I hadn't heard it. Comes from working in noisy environments, on aircraft etc I think.

My mate is the complete opposite to me. When he's on the tee, he could, quite literally, hear a butterfly fart in a thunderstorm. It's quite uncomfortable playing with him at times as you daren't even breathe, and woe betide the errant duck - it's quite likely to have the club thrown at it.

I'm normally OK with most things but a particular mate of mine really annoys me sometimes.
Whilst you are standing there waiting to play off the tee you can see (and hear) him practice swinging.
Also he has this habit of talking whilst you are chipping or putting. Just loud enough to put you off.

Are you a wee bit deeef then..

I agree with the respecting the other players as they play their shot but being older, this was all very much part of the game in the old days, pre spitting!

The advice side I do not agree with - I find it hard if my pal is hitting his fifth expensive ball into the rubbish, IN A FRIENDLY BASH, to not explain to him that his stance has 'wandered' round to the left or whatever.
He is grateful, his drives go back down the middle and I lose my bloody pound!

Goldenbare, I won a knockout comp out in the country but we played back into the clubhouse. My defeated partner said now the game is over I would like to cure your slight fade, he was only 15 of a handicap worse than me(!) - and HE DID!!

If you are correct in your thinking how come Bob Torrance etc can coach top pros?

I saw Faldo making the most basis set up error, in a shot at St Andrews, with the resultant fluff - I did not offer advice because he was in a comp - (Joke!) but you do not need to be a low handicapper to spot faults.

This is what happens when you make golf availible to the beer drinking jeans wearing masses you loose its values, you have to keep certain things alive that is why dress code is important, that is why etiquette is important, this is why technology has to be kept in check.

selectively, :)

not really, it's just a matter of concentration (same as you do when when watching the golf on tv and she wants to discuss curtains!)
