There's some incredibly good scoring in the first round of the English Amateur at the Berkshire. One chap from Castle Royle is in the hutch with a 61 on the blue . That's half decent by anyone's standards. Our club hasn't got anyone that good or anyone taking part but i do keep a look out for the Essex and Lincs boys and there's quite a few Essex lads in well under par. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

They are ripping the courses to bits.

Looking at the cards for both courses I can see why.

Have Jack Clarkson from our club competing today. Hopefully he'll put together a good score, he's a hell of a player, currently off +3.2!

3 from the club across the road from me (not a member) including one Alex Fitzpatrick who by all accounts has greater natural ability than his brother!

Couple of guys in there I have played Scratch matches against

3 lads from Kedleston playing, they're -2, level and +2 after day 1.

My son has played regularly with half a dozen youngsters in it and they have shot between -4 and +8 today.

He is excited to see how many of them can make the match play.

Massive spread of scoring given the narrow handicap spread of competitors in the first round (-10 to +19)

Young lad in 2nd, Matty Lamb, local lad from my area
Great prospect
Been ripping it up since early teens
Wish him all the best

I hadn't picked him up. He's a Hexham lad, maybe Splashit is on his bag😁. He is the golden junior from Northumberland, from young, so the whole county will be behind him.
