I think this fixture is over hyped nonsense.

It is of little significance these days, England are a better side over the last 20 years than Scotland no question but overall England only lead 45 - 41 in head to heads so it doesn't look too bad for the 'wee neighbour' and a stat we can be proud of.

Scotland's decent teams of yesteryear were fuelled by Old Firm rivalry, since all the foreigners came in in the late 80's we've been finished as a football 'power'. With Rangers now washed up it'll only get worse.

If Scotland could match the efforts of similar sized countries like Denmark, Sweden, Croatia, Uruguay etc that would do me i.e qualify occassionally.

Scotland should not expect to live with England/France/Italy/Germany/Spain etc on a football park.
They'll get the odd shock result of course which will keep the Tartan Army happy.

Seems to be a lot of negativity about this fixture, i am old enough to remember the old home internationals and used to look forward to them at the end of the season, i also think the teams benefited from the competitive nature of the games. I for one will be looking forward to this and the banter that goes with it, (ie the flag wavers) doesnt all have to be nasty and the majority will take it for what it is a game of football and enjoy the occasion win lose or draw.
