E for me.

Started the season with an additional handicap shot via the Annual Review Adjustment which meant I started on 15.5. Immediately shot 40 points for a 1.8 cut and thought this was to be a decent season. What actually happened was 12 x 0.1's out of 14 competitive rounds (the other 2 were buffer) and not being able to get out on course due to family commitments and a back injury right in the middle of the reason.

Finished the season with 2 x buffers and 2 x cuts (0.9 and 0.3) to finish on 13.3. So it's actually a bit of an odd one, finished 2 shots lower than the start of the season however the golf was scratchy and limited and the handicap is flattered by 3 good rounds.

I'd say a b+ maybe.

Didn't really have any handicap targets. But mine has stayed pretty constant around 11.5.

Main goals were try and enjoy the game more and shoot a level par for 9 holes. Both of which I've accomplished.

I do enjoy the game more, mainly because I've stopped playing in comps at my place because it takes way too long. Started playing a lot more 9 holes rather than the full 18. Stopped going to the range as much.

Basically I just don't take the game as seriously anymore.

I'll be generous and say B+..

After 3+ years of injury issues,I've finally managed to start shooting in the 70's again. Shot a level par round earlier in the year (non comp). The boy has joined me at the Club and has now won a comp so is officially more successful than me. Managed 18 in October with 3 generations of my Family. All in all a decent season and with hope for next season, albeit with a double digit handicap for the first time in a while...

C for me.

Played some good golf at times, and got a couple new PB's and ended the year lower than I started but only by like 0.3. Didn't achieve all my targets which was disappointing. Don't think I played anywhere other than my home course, maybe one trip to Gullane but that's about it, would have liked to play else where more.

Already focused on next year, got some rough goals and targets set out, just need to wait for next years comp schedule to be set out to see what I can play. Just working on improving over the winter to achieve these targets next year.

I guess a C from an achievement point of view. However, context was I was told I would never play golf again 15 months ago following a bad shoulder injury so clinging on to a Cat 1 handicap is a real bonus.

i would say a B+ for me.

Handicap fell from 3.2 to 2.7, but that was largely due a late season spell of good form.

I won my works order of merit, shot -4 @ worplesdon and a few other under par rounds.

Joining Burnham has been a fantastic decision, and i am starting to really get the benefit now!

Had some decent play, picked in a few teams and had 2 wins in my society, with loads of top 5/10s at my club but really did match my own expectations. Got genuinely excited with how I started to play in the last few weeks before winter league started and had to knock golf on the head for 8 weeks for non-golf related reasons. Suspect this is the report:

"Found what he was looking for too late in the season, needs to bring that to the start of next season so that this season isn't a complete waste. D+".

Been a busy year golfing wise as played more than ever before after job loss, managing 52 qualifying rounds since January.

Started the year on January 1st at 14.2 (having moved up inexorably for a year) and had a number of lessons over Feb/Mar with the aim of making good use of my free time and get my handicap back on a downward trajectory, and by June 1st was off 15.7 .....

Interested in tech and switched tack and went for a couple of lessons with a different pro on trackman, pressure mat and some other contraptions for 3d (pro quickly took that lot off as said not part of problem).

Since June I have now had 10 reductions, had never broken 80 before this year and now done it multiple times in competitions and general play (big psychological monkey off the back), won a couple of medals, several top 3 finishes and made a knockout semi-final.

Achieved my lowest ever handicap of 10.2 (exceptional cut did not materialise for last good round, no idea why as read rules backwards) and had a hole in one recently.

Has to be A* for the season

Really looking forward to next year, just been for a further lesson and will work on my game over the winter.

My worst season ever since taking up the game seriously in '99.

A succession of .1s. No buffers at all and a head full of mush as I have periodically shanked, fluffed and topped my way through 2016. In the end I had to withdrawn from comps for the first time ever, because by the third shot on the first hole in most comps I was just beating myself up big style.

Only saving grace is the past 3 weeks have seen a marked improvement giving me something to cling on to for 2017.

Headmaster's summary: Johhny really must work harder to do better!

We must be due a game before you find your form again.

Since the competition season finished I have come into form.

Would have to class it as a frustrating B. Only shot under my handicap twice.
Started very slowly went from 6 back up to 7, then shot 2 under par (9 under handicap) to win a board comp by 7 shots. That had taken me down to 5 for the first time. Suppose that would class as a good season but it's been so inconsistent.

Have changed almost all of the bag so need to spend some time over the winter practising. Turkey in Feb can't come soon enough. Give me shorts and shirt over 3 layers.

Can I ask how it's helped?

Year round golf, change of scene, better facilities, better course?
