End of season options

End of season and same thoughts although today I pulled the trigger and joined Leven Thistle GC.

Played the open and few weeks back and really enjoyed my round. Really good friendly atmosphere in the club house. Even went back along on Thursday evening for another go and loved every minute of it.

So went along today and signed up. Again, another great welcome as a few of the old lads got up and introduced themselves.

I'm a happy golfer today.

Just need to email Thornton. I hate break ups :mmm:

This thread is really interesting as I have been thinking the same, I have only been a member at a golf club since april but have really got into the same and have been playing more and more and have just getting my first handicap and I am now looking to play in some comps the only issue they all seem to be in the week when i am working and just wondered if that is valid reason to move clubs.

It should certainly be one of the elements involved.

We pay a lot of money for our memberships, so its important that we enjoy the course, feel comfortable around the clubhouse and can access both the course and comps.

If the course isn't ticking those boxes then it may be worth having a look around.

I enjoyed my time at Thornton but the draw of Leven Links and all year golf was the difference.

At under £500.00 for full membership I'd LOVE the course!
Can't believe how cheap membership is in Scotland.
Three courses I have played when up there where I would be happy to play all of my golf are Alyth, Lundin Links and Scotscraig.
The most expensive (Scotscraig) is only £580.00 for full membership.

I'm still at the long slog for me club, I've probably played it 3 times this year.
I think I need to move or give up membership as I work away 6 months of the year, on the plus side that means I have 6 months off and can play during the week

It's a good move Brian :thup:

I made a similar move from Wishaw to Lanark, 12 months golf being the deciding factor after taking into account extra travel etc.
