Egypt Anybody?

I went to Sharm with HID Dec 2008, we visited StCatherines Cathedral, best part of 4 hours into the Desert (the home of the burning bush). Yes we did have an armed guard join us for the trip however we had a great week, snorkelling boat trips as well as a venture into Old Sharm never felt uneasy at any stage. Let's face it with the random acts of terrorism in the last 10 years were is actually safe? You only live one if it means something too you do it.

Depends if you want a holiday or an experience.
Have you been to a majority islamic country before? Western tourists might as well have flashing beacons on top of their heads, you can't hide it.
Up to you, I wouldn't take my family near north africa/middle east in the current political climate.

This is what the terrorist wants to hear!
But unfortunately I have to agree I would not take my family on any holiday where I needed an armed guard.

Visited the pyramids and had a night in Cairo in 1990. Whilst the pyramids are worth seeing the hassle from Egyptians on horses was a pain. After our night in the hotel in Cairo all of our group had the runs the next day.

LOL - For our may holiday I think Mrs Hogie is just going to see what is on offer - anywhere - when we are just a few weeks from the date that we plan to go. And if she fancies something - that's where we'll go.
