Surely can't be sacked for telling the truth?

😉😂😂

Haven't watched the video but seen the comments in print and can't believe he's been that stupid.

One of my cousins is a professional sports coach and one thing he drums not his charges is never give your opponent a reason to hate you, the reason being it inspires and drives them. He's obviously never chatted with Eddie Jones, or Jones didn't think much of the advice if they did.

OIH... Good job i have an irish sense of humour ..
Not easily offended me, im sure alot of other nationalities have called the irish and wales worse .
Can a public figure b saying things like that tho and no expect something to happen

Tough one and in very poor taste. Not sure if the RFU will do anything. They seem incapable of any sort of reactive action for anything. All it'll do is make a fired up Irish side even more keen to rub the English faces in the dirt and beat them convincingly which is exactly what I see happening

Interesting one this - need to know more about the context of the event - by all accounts a sponsors event so probably expected it to be more private but even so, as England head coach and therefore representing the RFU, comments were ill judged.

But also look up Will Carling Management videos on YouTube - loads of current and ex-players slagging off other nations - obviously in jest - but still taken in good spirits.

All goes to show you need to know your audience.

Indeed we do.

Would be interesting to know if there were any Irish or Welsh there who took offence; or whether they laughed it off and even gave him a bit of stick too.

Disgraceful behaviour.......just imagine the angst if an Irish/Welsh coach had said that about Engerland.

Ah but you forget that it's perfectly acceptable - and indeed expected - to make abusive and disparaging remarks about the English!! 😂

Sounds like a typical throwaway comment at a private event. No doubt said with a big grin on his face and I'm sure it got chuckles. I'm sure similar events and comments are made throughout the six nations by people from all the countries involved.

This one really is a storm in a teacup.

He is clearly joking, both when he calls Wales a "little sh*t place" and particularly when he refers to England being beaten by the "scummy Irish". If you watch the video, you will see he is sharing the stage with an Irishman and is clearly making a joke with him.

The amount of faux outrage these days saddens me. It's not like any offence was intended, there is no malice behind the comments. Perhaps they are in bad taste, but hardly cause for his sacking.

And what nationality were those “fans” who verbally and physically abused EJ on his way home from a recent game whilst using public transport?

Typical.......

Thought the thread was about Eddie Jones. Do you not think the position of England national team coach requires a bit more class and tact than that of some drunken post match fans? Man may be a good coach but he lacks class. Don't see the trash talk from any of the other top 10 international sides coaches.

Your comments made me giggle. This guy makes tongue in cheek comments and gets slated. Yet he is nigh on physically and verbally abused and please copy and padte what you said about that. Big fat sam. Deserved to be sacked as he had no class. Eddie Jones, not at all.

There are clearly plenty of people who have never heard after dinner speakers at sports dinners. Current or ex sportsmen talking funny stories about their time in sport. Inevitable jibes about their main rivals are par for the course and what the listeners enjoy. Often you will get 1 from each rival team and they banter between themselves, all with big grins on their faces. Snowflake attitudes really are attempting to suck the joy out of the world.

Sorry typo.

You have failed to notice that I am not the manager of a national rugby team.:o

If results fall badly for England on Saturday they could finish the league in 5th place. Jones will be long gone in that scenario.

Ireland will certainly be pumped up, I can't see 30 players remaining on the pitch after that game.

Jones will not survive that.

You clearly have forgotten Jim Telfers remarks about England supporters at Twickenham last year? Maybe not as overt as EJ but stereotypical nonsense none the less.
