East Kilbride Golf Club

Just heard that the golf clubhouse at East Kilbride was seriously damaged by fire yesterday evening. After the weather stopping play, looks like they have many more serious problems to contend with now.

Wonder how many people had the latest model clubs in their locker ?

Has anyone more local heard any more ?

That's a real shame. Difficult to recover from things like this, was it an afluent club??

Until this year East Kilbride was one of the few clubs around with a waiting list (Only three or four locally now). I looked at joining when I started back golfing 21 months ago and there was a waiting list then. A few months ago they dropped their joining fee to £700 which was about a 60% drop, so they were obviously struggling for members.

No Jimbo I was at Kirkhill just down the road from Nerston and left there to go to Torrance House. I have actually never played at Nerston although my neighbour and a work colleague have both invited for a game on a few occassions, but it has always been rained off. I suppose it was a shame I hadn't been invited on Wednesday as the fire would never have got started with the way it always rains when I am heading there.
