Ear Infection - Can it effect your swing ?

i picked up an ear infection last weekend. It's a bit painful and I can't hear fully out my right ear, but my normal balance feels fine. No dizziness etc.

I've played quite a bit this week,4 times, and on each occasion my swing was just off. Ball striking was really bad.

Short game seemed fine. It was mainly with irons and woods.

It just felt like my timing was off, not badly but enough. I get a round like this every so often, we all do, but all 4 were the same.

Could the ear infection be effecting my balance\timing a little bit, enough to put my swing out of sync ?

The main reason I ask is I'm booked in for a custom fit session for some new irons at the Belfry in a weeks time and I don't want to get custom fitted if my swing is off.

I did go on the range for about 2 hours yesterday and hit about 200 balls with either driver or 7i just trying to work out what was going on. I must have hit about 175 bad ones, mostly big slices, fatting it or topping it, and about 22 ok ones and nailed only about 3 what I'd call cleanly. I'm pretty sure that the problem was timing my weight shift from my right to left correctly. I just couldn't do it and kept getting stuck behind the ball. :D :D :D

I've been playing well all season and managed to drop 3 shots off my handicap to get to 12.

I've had a head cold for about a week and have played 3 times. It feels like my ears need to pop.

Anyway, it feels like I'm swinging the club like I did a couple of years ago and they have been the 3 worst scores this year.

I'm hitting tops, thins, fats, you name it.

I put it down to being slightly off balance, much to the amusement of my playing partners

I hope this is the reason and I can get back to shooting half decent scores soon

An ear infection can definately effect your balance so im sure it can effect your golf.Ive got tinitus and it drives me mad,it does not effect my balance but my concentration.
