Hi All,

I had to drag myself out to golf this weekend, I have a knee injury that seems to be getting worse not better, it was cold, I had to leave my beautiful baby at home and I was billy no mates. I however knew I needed to get out for my head.

I have been working on my action over pure power for a little while and so stepped up to an empty 1st tee at AVGC early Saturday afternoon and hit a big right to left drive down the left side of the par 5. As I wandered up to it I saw someone waving to me from the 9th so wandered over to shake a rather frustrated Fundy`s hand (slow play in the medal). When I returned to my ball I guess I had about 230 to go with the pin almost at the back of the green on the top tear. I did not fancy smashing a 3 wood at it, i thought I would hit a hybrid then maybe chip on. My hybrid was another big smoth right to left shot that landed just short and bounced and rolled over the corner of the green and settled on the left side in a shallow gully 5 foot from the dance floor and maybe 20/22 foot from the pin. Still very chilled I threttend the ball with my 8 iron, made a few practice swipes and hit the ball. It was in as soon as it left the club face, I gave it the old point and a little "get it" and in it went.

Easy old game innit...

It was my 1st eagle in 8 or 9 years of playing, it was very pleasing and I will enjoy it over and over. Another small sign that I am moving my game forward slowly but surly.

Cracking stuff Alex, bet you were well made up!

Did you put the ball in the bag for safe-keeping, or continue using it?

I've only ever had one single putt for eagle. A, uphill ten footer that I left about 2 foot short, criminal. The positive was that I had a tap-in birdie, but I wish i'd had a proper go at it. Fair play to you.

Thanks alot, Na did not save the ball, I think I would only do that for a hole in one. Its a bit of a magic ball though as I chipped in for a boggy on 3 too...would have been a nasty double.

Its funny though, over the years my 8 iron has been a very lucky club.

Nice one mate. I managed an eagle on a par 4 somehow LOL hit Driver 8 iron to an elevated green and was right on line but actually had expected it to be front of green as my playing partner had shouted bunker after i hit it.
Got up to the green and it was in the hole, but I would have loved to have been like yourself and actually watched it drop. Also would have loved to have had a card in my hand to help my eclectic LOL but had played the comp the day before.

I would have thought that would be the same as a hole in hole during solo play. If no one else saw it, it didn't happen!

Yeppers.... I get that but I wanted to share it anyhow. It was a personal moment that I wanted to share with friends.

Thanks for the replies all.

Nice one Alex - I have only had 4 and got my first at home last year in a medal on the par 5th - I was so happy after 2 great shots and a nice but nervy 6-foot put that I promptly got a 10 on the next hole - a par 4!

Well played Alex, its two decent hits to get near the green on the 1st at AVGC. I hope you didn't do a 'PNWokingham' (as I shall call it now;)) on the next:lol:

Hehe thanks and no, I hit a good looking 4 iron to the front edge on 2 and 2 putted for a par. I was king of the world... Hehe..

Nice going Al - you've had one more than me this year, not been able to make any at all and I normally churn out 3 or 4...

Thanks Ian, you have had a couple of special rounds this year though hu!
