I've got an unexpected day off tomorrow so am going to nip along to watch Ernie Els etc. at Carnoustie tomorrow morning - I've lived six miles from Carnoustie for the last six years but have never been to the Dunhill Links before, which is ridiculous considering that it's free to get in and to park - anyone else going?

Then I think I'll have a hack around Monifieth Medal in the afternoon :)

Yup, going to all four days. Carnoustie tomorrow too. Haven't decided which courses yet for Friday and Saturday need to see who's playing where.

Went last year and it was really good watching. Perfect for me and the girlfriend I can watch the golf and see can see the celebs.

yes, love St Andrews, managed to blag 2 nights at the Old course so ringside view of some action and if the weathers good I'll get some golf in. The driving range there is excellent- wide bays each enclosed and decent balls

Looking at last years scoring averages, i think it must be an advantage playing your first round at Kingsbarns. you can score well there and give you a platform for the other two days.

all depends on the weather i guess too

Had a good day out. Followed Quiros for a few holes, crossed over and had a sneaky pint in The Jiggers. Very impressed at the presentation of the fairways and greens. Lunched in town then, sat in 18th grandstand for an hour or so.
Big plus for me was watching the Typhoons taking off :D

Had a fine morning at Carnoustie yesterday - Glorious sunshine and just a bit of a breeze. Walked first three with Darren Clarke and then headed back and picked up Ernie Els and Charl Schwartzel group. Walked right round with them and saw a bit of Jamie Donaldson and Ross Fisher with Sir Steve Redgrave in group ahead - Sir Steve can knock it miles, Ernie's dad was in bunkers galore and obviously is a fair bit as he was superb at recovering from the sand.

Last time I was at Carnoustie for a tournament was the 96 Scottish Open when they were testing how brutal they could make the rough - yesterday was much more gentle.

As i said in original post this was the first time I'd been to the Dunhill Links, ten minutes from my house, free parking and entry - I'll definitely get there for at least a day next year and might nip down for a bit on Saturday morning before I have to head off to photograph a football match.

Kingsbarn this afternoon and watched most of the bigger names come through. Great hole as most groups call the ones behind to play up so you get to see the tee shots and putting. Saw one eagle and numerous birdies. Very impressed with Bradley Neil, with Peter Uihlein they shot a 57

Was at Carnoustie yesterday, great day out. Seen plenty golf, watched Brandon grace for a few holes then David Howell 5 or 6 then headed to 18 to watch the groups come through.

Went to Kingsbarns today another great day, followed grace for the whole 18 this time, he was playing well but the puts just weren't dropping. Seen lots of others too, goosen, kaymer, Harrington, and Singh. Really like kingsbarns as a course would love to play there one day if it wasn't so expensive.

Not sure where we're going tomorrow possibly Kingsbarns again maybe St. Andrews gona check to see who's playing where.

You can take ur phone but make sure it is on silent. Just make sure u don't have it out when the players are playing, some Marshall's make a big fuss about it being out then some others couldn't care less and are just there to watch the golf themselfs.

A woman's phone rang when Ernie was lining up his approach at Carnoustie's 15th on Thursday - he hit his shot into about 15ft then made a point of heading her way to say "Ma'am - could you make it a bit louder next time" - glad it wasn't me.
