Duel in the Sun

Turnberry, the greatest links course in the UK.

Bold shout

Would have at least RCD and TOC above it

And some would have Dornoch and Muirfield above it as well with Portrush close

Or Carnoustie or Troon.

Having said that, the Duel in the Sun was amazing, more so when it happened rather than how it is shown on the documentary.

As I said on another thread 1977 was the year I started playing and watching it got me more enthused about playing.

I remember it well. Afraid the VHS video of it is long gone but wow, what a phenomenal last day. 1 shot between Watson & Nicklaus, 65 v 66 final round and 10 shots from 2nd to 3rd place. I’d say Stenson v Mickleson final round matched it.

Best Open course I’ve walked during an Open (I’ve not done Royal St George’s & Hoylake) has to be Muirfield by 2 country miles. Turnberry is comfortably 2nd.
