Anybody know of any good dry courses around Lancs.
Played Bolton Old Links a few weeks back, and fancy something nice and dry with no winter greens or tees?
Any ideas?

Can't say if it will be dry or not, but Lancaster is a great course, my mate used to be a member. Quality course.

Keep away from Hagh Hall. That will be a swimming pool. The only course I have lost balls on the fairway. They plugged so deep.

Heron's Reach is very good at the moment, playing there today. Lytham Green Drive looks gorgeous but I haven't played there so wouldn't know what sort of order it's in.

Played Fleetwood last week... dry as a bone....winter tees (mats next to regular tees) but 18 greens. You can get on for £25 weekends. Old Links is class, will be dry but not sure about cost or weekends. Avoid Green Drive in winter.

St Annes old links is £40 on sundays, i'm not sure about sat'.
Its a superb course, and sure to be dry.
I'd be up up for a knock there one weekend if anyone fancied it.
Fleetwood is also a good shout, I play up there quite a bit this time of year. good value at £25.

Why would you want to avoid Green Drive? I've never played there, so have no idea what the course is like, but I do some work there and it always looks like a really nice course. Does it hold a lot of water?

Alright Qwerty, hows things?

I'd be up for a game round Old Links or Fleetwood, not played either course before.

My course is a bit of a bog at the moment.

SteveF - Green Drive is pretty often closed in the winter as it is terrible for being waterlogged. Know a few people that have left there because of it. Seems a shame but puts me off being a member there.

Ok thanks Iain. how you doin.
I'll contact St Annes and Fleetwood on Monday and see whats on offer. I've not played st annes myself for a year or two.I'm long overdue a game there.
I Think my game has fully recovered after being beaten up at Royal Lytham, that was one brutal course.
I'll Pm you next week.
I'll put something in Arrange a game if we can sort something out.maybe get a couple of tee times if theres any interest.

berrington hall at st. helens is the driest we've played this winter (or is it spring yet??) and highly recommended by tony jacklin! do not go anywhere near high legh park unless you own a pair of waders!
