Absolutely chuffed with myself last night. I went out at 7.45 after the heavy drizzle stopped. As I was out on my own I played 3 balls, on the 9th tee I hit the first 2 balls with the hybrid, soft shots about 160, but down the middle, leaving me about 100yds to the front of the green.

The 3rd ball I hit with the driver, it went surprisingly straight (not the usual slice) at one point I thought I was going to clear the green, but then the ball came down and rolled to a stop in the middle of the green, leaving me a 12ft putt for my first eagle.

I hit the other two balls onto the green, one about 10 feet from the pin, the about 14ft.

When it came to the putting, my heart was pounding, 2 balls for birdie, 1 for an eagle. The birdie balls dropped in, the eagle ball stopped about 2 ft short, still managed to putt that for a birdie also.

Can't grumble at that ! Drove the green for the first time, all 3 balls birdies. Sweet !!

BTW the 9th at Llantrisant is a straight 267yds SI 18.

Also, I was playing with the Srixon AD333 for only the second time, I've noticed a big improvement and rise in consisitency with my driving using these balls as opposed to the NXT I was previoulsy using. Anyone else impressed with AD333's ?

I like the AD333 in the wetter and colder autumn and winter conditions when the greens will hold anyway (OK I know after all the rain today ......) but they were firming up at my course and so the Pro V and TP Blacks I'd been using were good at stopping on them.

Good shooting to make 3 birdies though but I can't help feeling you've used all your comeptitive good scores on that hole for a while now. The golfing gods will have been keeping a tally and will look to even the score come the next medal

Many congratulations Gustavoid.
It goes a lot further when you hit it straight doesn't it? :D

BobMac, since I've taken heed of your advice, I've noticed a definite improvement in my driving, (and woods and hybrids off the tee ). I'm still slicing a few, but far less often. My average drive fades approx 15 feet of my target, instead of the previous 60-70 yards slice.

So again, I thank you. ( we need a thumb up smiley here )

Homer, I know exactly what you mean. The amount of times I've stepped up to a tee, thinking to myself "Hey Andy, last time you drove down the middle, 100 yards chip to the green, sank that awesome putt for a birdie. Remember how cool you were".

Then I smash the ball, slice into the trees, ball never seen again. Second drive skittling across the ground about 50 yds, followed by me swearing at myself as I put the big stick back into the bag.

It's so frustrating not having a decent level of consisitency. I have birdied 14 of the holes at my course, and obviously par'd every one. If only I could string it together one day.

My course is a par 68, the record is only 65. I keep telling myself that one day I'll take that record !

Like hell will I !!
