I'm looking at using some land at my work for hitting some golf balls for practice. I have a net and plenty of balls but I need a practice mat. Ideally I want one like a driving range but they carry a healthy price tag and a used one at a local range is not available right now. Does anyone have anything similar in their garden and can you recomend any cheap mats like the ones at American golf?

there was a similar thread recently, do a search, I think a suggestion was artificial grass from B&Q or even a large doormat, the type with bristles

I recently bought a strip of astroturf for use in the back garden.

It works well for chipping practice but don't know how long it would last with full shots being hit off it all the time.

There's a link in that thread for a mat I'd seen for £50 if you want to spend that much.

If there are any other driving ranges a bit further afield I'd give them a ring and see if they have any old ones.
