Driver Test!

good question - the shots the brands supply (which we use most of the time otherwise we'd end up spending 10s of thousands photographing everything originally) tend to be sole of metalwoods putters and cavity/backs of irons as shows most of the technology and also the brand name and and graphics which is the thing you'll see when you go into any pro shop or retailer

we try to show address shots in the videos we do shoot this angle for the products that are featured in the the 'tested' pages of the magazine

I do see the point of showing off technology, for the manufacturers & for the mag' to be able to show the content of the articles.

I suppose the difference is in the golfer. I'm not really all that technical and so don't understand, or care, how the innovations work. I'm more interested in how they look and play when I hit them. But others are very much more interested it the tech' side of things.

Thanks for the response.

Very good , liked the fact every manufacturer has there own page then actual golfers giving there feedback and thoughts on the clubs they hit

I enjoyed reading the write ups and watching the video results/choices and found the format very easy to follow and comfortable to read on my XP PC :smirk:

Is it just a coincidence that out of 3 of you none of you chose the same club in your top 3 picks?

I recently tested 27+ drivers and have to say that the Callaway Alpha Bertha, R15 & Titleist D2 were stand out for me with the Benross & D200 closely behind.

As was mentioned by I think Paul, its natural for us all to look for extra distance but not at the expense of a greater dispersion, my tightest dispersions carried shorter by 10yds with the exception of the Titleist D2 which ironically was fitted with a regular shaft when 99% of all the others were stiff

Really like the format, easy to use and I like the way that you can pick and choose what you want to see detailed information about. Works really well on my Android phone with clear pictures and videos.

As others have said, if the whole digital magazine could be formatted like this I would be tempted to change from a paper subscription.

Hi Robin
No coincidence rather a reflection of the fact that there's isnt one best driver for everyone - becuase even though we are similar handciaps we have different swings/swing speeds
Paul wants to put a bit of spin on to launch the ball effectively and wants to straighten his cut
I want to take off the spin my descending angle of attack put spin on the ball that robs me of distance. I hit it straight but need to find extra yards
Neil like a lot of very fast swingers needs a driver that keeps spin off as his speed (rather than angle of attack) puts excess spin on the ball which can make his ball flight balloon

Thanks for that and I fully understand, just jumped out at me with almost 1/3rd of the drivers chosen between you none of them were chosen twice, especially with so much technology to adjust them to suit.
