Hi all

for those forumers out there with an iPad you can now read an interative version of the mag on your device.

It's not a full on bespoke iPad mag (as with the likes of Sports Illustraed or Stuff) but it features interactive features in the form or bonus videos and image galleries.

You need the Zinio app (FREE to download) to access it via your iPad and you then you purchase the digital magazine (individual copy or subscription) through the 'store' link in the Zinio app.

This is the first issue we have done this for and we are on a pretty steep learning curve with the technology and software capablities but it's a step forward.

I'd be really interested to get feedback on it (good or bad) from anyone who downloads it.

PS The magazine also avaliable as downloadable edition that you can read on a PC or Mac (those versions don't have the interactive elements) direct from Zinio

Hi Ethan
sadly its not part of the print copy subscritpion but we are looking at how we can create an option that gives you an all in one subscription which would get you both print and digital editions
The issue we had is that until very recently (ie last month) we couldnt count digital sales towards our circulation figures. Now that's been sorted we can start to look at it with a bit more clarity

Hi Mike, I had a look at this last night.

The app itself seems quite slow & it took ages for me to create an account, just so I could log in to view the magazines. However, once I had got there, they give you 4 free copies of different magazines to look at and the ones I saw are ok.... It's basically just a digital copy of the actual magazine (like a pdf) with no interactive content. Some other magazines have videos & other interactive features which make it stand out from the rest, so there's something for the future maybe? Once the mag was loaded, the speed seemed really good, you can zoom & flick through the pages like you can with the hard copy. I didn't subscribe as there have been a few negative reports on the app store about some mags not being delivered & the app crashing (plus i bought the hard copy of GM last week :) )

If the interactive content was there (eg. video tips, games, quizzes etc) I think there would be a lot more people subscribing & it would definitely stand out from the crowd.

Hope that helps from an avid GM reader perspective!!
