Hi
i recently had a fitting for a new driver and fairway wood .The pro concerned only had two driver heads and a collection of shafts and one fairway wood which was a different model to both the drivers .i had one of the drivers recommended and the fairway wood , with both having a change of shaft .I was charged £45 for this service , in the Forums opinion is this a satisfactory fitting .Personally i think it was a waste of money and have become sceptical towards this service from all companys and feel i have grounds for a refund .I question the pro concerened after i had given myself some time to think and " recommended going out with my local Pro and hitting some clubs ".

Only two driver heads and £45 sounds a bit strange to me. Id expect a full hour fitting for that on flightscope with the choice of most drivers from various manufacturers with various combinations. Sounds like a half a job to me!

£45 seems a bit excessive, did you know this cost and restricted choice before you went? Is it discounted off anything you buy?

Is this on top of the 3 fittings you posted about last week and if so how do the results compare?

This post is in regard to many second fitting of last week , i have posted again as i have now had time to reflect on that experience .The pro's website names a number of manufacturers names of heads , shafts , grips etc .The shafts recommended for me cost £25 each ,adaptors £10 each and grips £8 each and a RBZ driver head and fairway head . The total price was £499 which if bought would not have incurred a fitting charge of £45 .

A fairly hefty charge and IMO you have every right to be disappointed, given these circumstances I'm sure I would be!

I am convinced what i was advised to buy , is what served the Pro better than the golfer .i thought i was doing the right thing putting my trust in a Pro ,but i am now firmly convinced these fittings are more about sales than finding the right equipment at the right price .Unfortunately this still leaves with the problem of finding the right equipment for me .This saga could be the final straw for my golf game as i am not in love with the game anymore.

There's a difference between getting fitted at a pro shop and a custom fit centre imo. I think you need to find a genuine custom fit centre/performance studio before you buy anything. Where do you live?

I think they saw you coming.

Would you like to buy a magnetic wristband at all?

I was fitted at www.foregolf.ie

For €50 you get driver/fairway fitting. They do this using flightscope and have access to a huge number of clubheads & shafts. They are not attached to any particular brand which means you get the best club for you and are not pushed towards one model. Of course if you have a preference for a certain brand yourself they will try and work that out for you too

I went for a driver fitting a couple of years ago. This was at a golf complex with driving range and various manufacturers ie Callaway, Taylormade, Ping etc. Tried a few out with details given from a launch monitor. The pro was honest and a nice guy. Cost was £20 which would have been discounted off the price of any clubs. Was there about 1 hour.

Ok, so i went for a driver fitting and was aloud to test anthing i wanted and it it would cost nothing. You can try as many drivers as you like and you see the different results from dirffrent drivers. My swing speed would be measured and tested, and the site pro would give me his advise and then it was tested. Well done DG UK

I have never paid for any of my fittings. Driver, 3 wood, irons, wedges, and putter. Total time spent approx 6.5 hours. And i have had a free 1/2 hour on Trackman to find all my distances. All in all a happy chappy with my fitter

My closest fitting centre is fantastic. They have the complete fitting stations for TM, Titleist, Mizuno and Callaway. It costs £20 to go and get fully fitted on the Trackman to make sure that stat wise it is as perfect as you are going to get, it also has a driving range with decent balls so you can actually see the club hitting a ball, rather just into a net. If you keep the receipt he will knock that off the price when you go back to purchase. Also his kit is at very competitve prices. £45 and did not get to treally try anything out sounds like someone has ripped you off. Also wanting £500 for an RBZ driver and fairway does not sound very cheap either.

is that free for members or a mates rate as that individual certainly charges around £45 for a driver fitting
