Hi guys, im slowly upgrading my starter Dunlop golf set with decent clubs. Im being patient and managing to snap up second hand clubs that suit my price range.
So far ive managed to get:
TaylorMade 3-SW RAC-HT Irons
Taylormade Superfast Burner 2.0 3 Wood
Ping Anser II Putter
Slazenger 64* Wedge
Basically this lot has cost me less that £150
So im looking for advice on a decent driver that i can pick up cheapish on eBay.
Currently using a Dunlop DDH XD-08 (10.5* regular shaft I presume) which I get on quite well with.
I have my eye on a Ping G10, Nike Sq Machspeed or a TaylorMade original burner. These seem to go for anywhere between £30-£50.
Also advice on a hybrid/rescue would be nice too.
Any Advice Guys?
ps I cant post in the for sale/wanted section or id post my wants there.

there is a minimum posts, forum memebership to be able to post in for sale section checks the rules for full details.

if you want new the dunlop nz9 for £55 has had impressive reviews at this price point.
Look at benross or MD gear to quality but reasonably priced

Price range is one thing, suitability is another. Just because it's a bargain doesn't mean it will suit....... Ask Gibbo

Sensible to be looking at quality second hand options (there's also bargains to be had in new old stock this time of year with new releases out) but I really think you have to try a few to find something that will suit you.

Drivers can be very personal and there's lots of examples of what suits one person not suiting another. The stock shaft offerings tend to be fairly variable as well and one manufacturer's shaft may perform very differently for you from another's.

Sometimes pro shops and the big chains have a selection of used drivers (there's a healthy turnover due to new products always promising more!) that you can have a go with but you need to see the complete flight (don't bother hitting to a net - a 50 yard slice might still feel great off the face) so try to find one with a range attached.

I don't think you'll go wrong with a Ping G10 or the G5 at this price range, very forgiving and could stay in the bag for a very long time!

I can highly recommend a ping rapture v2. Got on from here and although I have only got 18 holes in so far it was far more controllable than my other drivers until I got a bit cocky at the end. Great driver and you should be looking at around £60-70 .

My best advice would be to get the matching driver for your 3-wood. Really nice bit of kit and I think you can pick one up for the sort of money you are looking second hand. If you wait a few weeks for the new RBZ to be released the new price of the old one will fall and push the Superfast second hand prices down even lower. Rescue wise I would go along hte same route.

Thanks for the huge response guys, Ive alot to think about there and may wait untill the 2013 models come out and see if I can pick up something cheap at Direct Golf outlet as theres 2 near me.
Thanks Again

It was £4 in the JJB stock liquidation sale.. I had to buy something!!

yep - I have a few clubs like that too!

given your 3 wood I really wouldn't rush for a driver; it's one of the longest out there and there's no point getting a driver for the sake of it (and probably a lot of reasons not too)

Ive only just bought the club off a mate so ive only had 2 swings with it, have to practice on the range with it as im sure it will go further than the dunlop driver... Saying that tho, when i give it a good skelp i out drive the other 3 guys in my 4 ball with it LOL

i've got a feeling i'm going to be shot down in flames here but i would put my money into a driver fitting or just a chat with your pro to make sure you get the right shaft. my driving was the worst part of my game and i didn't buy into all this shaft upgrade rubish. when i was fitted for my anser the pro said the shaft in my r11s was the worst one for me ''by miles'' as my swing is fast and erratic from the top i was fitted with the ahina shaft. my handicap dropped by 5 over night.
the way i see it, the head it just a piece of metal. the shaft is what does the business.
