Dress Code for The Open

Hi,

Just a quick question. I'm going to the Open tomorrow, wondering if there was any official dress code for spectators (i.e. if jeans and trainers are allowed). Can't seem to find anything online.

jacket and tie...
seriously anything goes but I'd advise rainwear and stout shoes. think walking in the lake district during winter and you wont go wrong

Wear whatever you like but be prepared for the weather.
Golf shoes are useful.

As above wear whatever you like but best to prepare for a good walk in the Lake District as it is likely to be muddy after all the rain.

"wear whatever you like" really is the rule. saw two kaftans on the course yesterday and one Spiderman costume. Today = wall to wall waterproofs.
Tomorrow? Waterproofs. golf shoes or grippy walking boots very useful. Bit slippy underfoot and lots of sideslopes. Don't bother with a brolly, gusts are full on when they happen. Hey this is real Links Golf. Good for the soul.

IMHO the best items to bring are gtolf shoes, and paclite goretex.

And no I am not JEALOUS at ALLLLL! Enjoy - but be warned it is hard to get a good spot when following - I generally just follow at the start then camp on 17/18 2 hrs before finish.
