DRESS CODE/ETIQUETTE

Tbh the last few rounds I have been wearing my Sunderland waterproof trousers over my undercrackers, they are comfy and feel better than normal trousers, I just get changed once finished and pop for a pint in my... jeans ;)

As long as people are behaving themselves and are aware of how to conduct themselves on a golf course, I really don't see that it matters what they wear.

Personally, I wouldn't wear jeans playing golf. However, the only reason for that is that they are not really suitable from a practical point of view. I prefer wearing lighter trousers that don't get so warm in the summer or so uncomfortable if they get wet. As far as I'm concerned, it is none of my business if somebody else is wearing jeans and it wouldn't put me up or down.

I think dress codes in clubhouses are absurd, to be honest.
However, if you choose to play somewhere with a dress code then you should comply with it and if you don't want to , just go elsewhere.

If you want weird dress codes . . .

my club does not have it's own clubhouse. the course is on what is predominantly a conference/training centre which has accommodation facilities (sometimes referred to as a hotel), restaurant and bar, a co-located gym and the golf course.

our 'clubhouse' is in a corner of the bar. if we are there as part of the golf club then the no jeans, mobiles, hats etc prevail. if we are there as part of a training course, or casually, they don't.

but, I agree with the no jeans on course rule (I wear them on the range or for putting/chipping practice though) and would like to think that the pro's were advising the juniors (<u>and more particularly their parents</u>) of what is expected of them, including suitable dress.
