Dq'd or not?

cant believe that half of you think a fundamental part of golf is scibbling a bloomin signature on the card

Repeat of my previous post:

It's not a test of whether you can or cannot sign a piece of paper (or remember to do it), the physical act of signing means that you acknowledge that the score recorded for each hole is what actually happened and you agree with it.

I think you are almost obliged to let the nearest the pin stand. As BretbyBlue stated, anyone playing after may only be an inch or so further away but not put their name on the sheet because they are further away. Giving the prize to someone who may have been in the first group out and 15yards away when the non-signer went out in the second group and stiffed it to 6 inches. What about anyone else that was between these figures, which surely must be the case over say 3 more groups?

Nearest the pin stands, as asked in the OP

So, acknowledge it with any sensible and practical way you want, that accomodates timeliness and common sense but why think these needs a needless narrow minded rule relating to what is signed and when ?

But the Rules don't make a distinction between accidental mistakes and deliberate ones. If you walk off the 18th green and find 2 of your 5 year old daughter's cut down clubs in your bag alongside your 14 clubs, then you are penalised. It doesn't matter that you didn't know they were there or had no intention to use them. And any Committee man who tells you not to worry about it is a cheat and unfit to be on the Committee.

No youre right teh rules dont, but we can and
IN those terms i certainly gained an advantage with her very accurate short putter, and surprisingly good hybrid in teh bag by having the opportunity tp have used them. That's a certain penalty.
But, vorgetting to sign quickly isnt gaining any advantage whatsoever even by any circumstance than can be imagined. THat's a rule that needs re-consideration at least :)
Happy Christmas anyway Ethan - in new year i'll take you up on that longstanding game at the Lakes, so that you dont forget what it looks like :) Although it sounds like youve found some other lovely places to play lately
