"down grading" would you do it?

I've moved from Ping S56's to Mizhuno JPX EZ-forged.

I used to hit my S56's great, but the quality of my strike had gradually deteriorated over the last couple of years despite lessons and practice, and if you're not catching them out the middle, especially with the longer irons, I found I was loosing a ton of distance and as a result I started to loose confidence in my game.

So I ended up just biting the bullet and getting something more forgiving. Took a while to get used to the larger head design, but I hardly notice it now. And my strike is improving all the time as my confidence is growing.

I've still got the S56's and might swap back to them at some point in the future as I just loved them when I was swinging well. I just wasn't swinging well often enough. :(

I am sure we all play this game for fun. You need to use clubs that is going to make the game fun for you again. As others have said why make things any harder than you need too.

I posted this a couple of days ago - Santander credit card offering 0% for 18 months on card purchases, if you want to avoid splashing out all at once.

Try a load of irons, but if you liked your Nikes, I found the Covert 2.0 irons very easy to hit, but just couldn't get used to the look of them.

I went from Mizuno MP 53 to Mizuno JPX 825 Pro, the latter is just a little bigger all round but still not ugly. I often think of going another step to something like I25 or Mizuno JPX EZ but I think I have it about right now.

Offset is what I hate and like Foxy said... I dont want a PW that looks like a hammer.

I have the mp54,s did you notice much of a difference between 53's and the jpx 825 pros?

I've just gone to the g25 from TM R11 (thank you GM and Ping again:)) and would definitely recommend a switch to this type of iron if you're struggling. I feel a lot more confident over my irons now.

My only slight concern is that the flight is much higher and doesn't seem easy to keep down on the occasions I've tried but I think can live with that for the time being.

Morning all....advice taken on board and now booked in for tomorrow morning.

Going to test properly the Ping G25s, Titleist AP1, Mizuno JPX EZ and Cobra Bio Cells......

Ye I did, if that was the placebo effect or not I dont know but for example last night I hit my 6 iron out of the low toe, made the green and was only 5 yards short of the pin. The 825 Pro is surprisingly forgiving for a mid sized forged club and has acceptable looks. That said not many days go by when I dont dream about getting a set of MP 54.... but I have to go with performance.

Amen!

You know what that means at the next forum meet. " and the winner with 53 points " !!

If only every other part of this silly game would come together at the same time you could be right - 36 holes club champs on Sunday so hoping it happens then!

Well that was unexpected.... I'm now the proud owner of Callaway X2 hot pro irons... With stiff project x95 6.0 flighted shafts with a neutral lie.

essentially he said that my current clubs couldn't be more wrong for me.... regular flex, 2 degrees upright.... He told me all the things wrong with my game within 2 hits of the ball and looking at the stats... Every word he said rung true with my game.

roll on tomorrow morning.... wonder how I'll play
