Doughtery does a VDV

Nothing against Nick, apart from the fact he married Di, he's probably a really nice bloke

But...

This makes a mockery of inviting back past champions to play in the event.
He's only there because he won it a few years back
He obviously doesn't have the game for it - take out the 12 and he's still well over par -and he hasn't had a game for a long time.
He's now in the glare of the media and it can't be comfortable.

He's not struggling to keep his card - he's struggling to play the game at all.
His place in the field could have been taken by someone else who is either up and coming or fighting to keep a Tour card.

....now let's see, one into the burn, penalty so three back into the burn......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................yup 12

Does anyone know why his game just completly went?

I know he was a decent player in his time but he seems to be getting even worse, did he try swing changes/ have a bad injury that kept him out for a long time?

He was a very good player until his game went to pieces. He has had a hand injury but the main cause from what I have heard from people in the industry is that he started to tinker with his swing and from then on struggled to control his Driver and Woods from the tee which means he is having to reload often as well as pitching out sideways. I saw him a couple of years ago a Dunhill championship on the practice ground from behind the ropes so I got a really close look and he was all over the place with his longer clubs. Shame really as he is a smashing bloke.

While I agree, it's no different to what happens at the Open and the Masters.

Anyone who has experienced their own game going down the toilet has to really feel for him. He seems to be one of the nicest blokes in the game. It's a real shame and I, for one, hope he turns out to be one of those guys who gets it back and is succesful again.

My game went down the toilet for 5 yrs... It's rough, but people knew what he played like, and all being equal there is no reason why he can't get back there. The point is how much does he want to... How much work will he put in ?

He was on Golfing World a while back & I don't think his recent form is through lack of determination or lack of work.
