Donald, a worthy No. 1. Westwood, what a No. 2!

I saw the interview... He was asked if "this was ideal preparation for the open" and answered the question honestly in that being sat around for 12 hours of course wasnt. He came across a knob, as he didnt acknowledge all the hard work that was being put in by everyone to try and get the tournament up and running. Donalds answer was far more humble, it was a "not much we can do about the situation and the unpresedented rainfall, but the staff are putting in a herculean effort to get us going again.

The attitudes were reflected in yesterdays play with luke being far more calm and collected on the course and westwood looking like he jyst wanted to get it over and done with. I've previously been a huge fan of lee but i agree he did come across a bit of a cock

He is only human, he aint really had the best weekend before he has a big major coming up that everyone keeps reminding him that he aint won one yet.

Maybe he could of come across abit better but im sure most of us would find it hard to be upbeat and full of the joys of spring if we had to answer a load of questions after a bad round.

Also i think he has a very dry sense of humour and alot of people take it the wrong way sometimes.

Didn't see the interview but from the OP both were asked "how difficult it had been with the interrupted play and the weather yesterday"
Donald answered like a PR man's dream, Westwood answered the question straight, Donald's answer sounds better but does that make Westwood smug?

I've got time for both men, they're good blokes, they're British and they're numbers one and two in the world!

Well said.

I agree with you.

And me. We should take pride in the fact Britain has the two top-ranked golfers in the world, and the most talked about player in the game in Rory at no.4. Really hope that one of them does the business at RSG this week.

I heard his comments yesterday and was miffed by them. Yeah, you can be hacked off but its no ones fault. He could have had a bit more PR sense.

I'm sure to his friends, family and inner circle he is a great guy but lately to the wider media / public he is coming across as having a rather big chip on his shoulder. (In my opinion).

1. there was the comment he made about golf channel questionning the world ranking system when he made it to no.1

2. the jibing he gave to sky sports about the repeated mentions of Tiger

3. quitting Twitter (or at least cutting back) because he got a few negative / dumb / honest comments

4. his latest comments at the Scottish Open

I think a few of you need to lay off Mr.Westwood. He is probably feeling the pressure of the lack of majors more than most, as he has one of the best non-winning records over the last 10 years at majors and the press in this country love to remind such individuals of that at every opportunity!
I have met him on a couple of occasions and he is a sound bloke and came across very genuine to me. When he wins at the weekend, I think you'll see a more relaxed Lee Westwood!

Can't really see the issue. He answered the question. Not sure he necessarily has to quantify it. Whilst it would have been good to recognise the work of the green staff it wasn't actually what he was asked. I can't see why he keeps getting knocked. Has been number 1 in the world, member of successful Ryder Cup sides, come closer than most Brits (including Donald) to winning a major and yet no one knocks the others. Not sure what else he has to do other than try and bag a major and sadly there have been plenty of top, top players around the world that never managed it in their careers.

Couldn't agree with Homer more. Why the constant sniping at Lee on here? I find it quite unbelieveable that people insist on having a go at him, typical British anti success attitude, no doubt Luke has it coming to him in the not too distant future. If we had the No's 1 and 2 in the world in tennis the country would be rejoiceing, instead we get drivel like some of the stuff on this thread, sad really. I say get down to RSG's and support both Luke and Lee, the best players in the world right now and BOTH good role models.

Why do people keep saying the Scottish Open is a warm up for the Open. If that was the case where were Poulter, Casey, McIlroy, all the Yanks etc.
Just because it falls the week before a major doesn't make it a warm up, no-one ever says that about the 3 US tour events that fall before the Majors over there.
The Scottish Open is one of the bigger titles on the European Tour and carries a good prize fund.
Give it the respect it deserves.

Back on topic, agree with OP that Westwood does come across a bit of a spoiled brat at times, media questions do seem to wind him up a bit.
