I see Rory has split with long term coach Michael Bannon and is now working with Pete Cowan. Personally I think this is probably a good move but suppose only time will tell.

Is it a full split, or just working with Pete whilst in the USA and Bannen isn’t travelling?

I don't know much about Peter Cowan but Peter Cowen is a golf coach http://www.petecowen.com/ ;)

Now here is the connection between Tash and Rory. Mr Pete Cowans Setup is near Meadowhall. My first ever group of lessons was at Lindrick home of the Ryder Cup in the 50’s. Anyway the guy who gave me lessons now works at the Pete Cowan academy.
He, Luke, the place is very very good. It seems that both me and Rory believe our futures lie at the hands of Mr Cowan. Or Pete to his mates. ?

Anyone remember when a few of the golfers were actually on the old BBC 606 message boards - Westwood was one
Yeah he was quality. We asked him to prove he was the real deal and he did. Told us the 4 colours of shirts he had for a tournament one week and which order we wanted him to wear them so we did and he duly obliged. We also asked him to do a press up on the 18th green. When he got to the green he got right down on the ground behind the ball to see the line and did a press up on the way back up again.....brilliant! :D

Can you just clarify.....was the Ryder Cup in the 50's or did you have lessons in the 50's? ;)
I believe it was in 57”, lovely old course is Lindrick. Oddly enough I enjoyed it more than the old course. I suppose it’s not every day you see a spitfire fighter plane in someone’s back garden whilst having a knock. A pal asked me to be a member there, but it put me off having to eat your crisps out of a bowl and not a bag. Plus it never helped when I heard a member asking the good lord why someone had pinched his shoes out of the locker room Whilst he was on the course. Me I was the fastest sperm in 62 and first saw Rochdale in 63. ??

This is your reply to Mark Ts question what should Rory change.

I’ve said change coach. But not a permanent change.
I would like him to visit with the likes of Pete Cowan or Butch Harman. Not to change his swing etc, but to think about and consult on areas of the game which could do with improvements.
Cowan is a short game guru, perhaps he could consult on his pitching.
Both are also renowned for their assistance on the mental side of the game, eg when Cowan basically told to Koepka that if he wants to be the best he had to start believing he was the best.

?flippin eck, talk about nail on head. Just for those that didn’t read it on the other thread

Good effort, I think Golf monthly mag owe you a bag of tees at the least ?

Was he assessing the slope with the flagstick beneath him?

McIlroy posted a few times on the 606 message board as mini mac. You could tell it was genuinely him because of the banter with Westwood. That must be over 10 years ago now.

I'm sure many golfers must dip in to forums from time to time anonymously, they are interested golf after all. But these days their social media profile is so carefully managed they aren't going to be posting in the random irritations thread.
