Does anyone carry an "opposite handed" club?

No. I thought about it (I had place in my bag at the time), but decided that I would need too much practice time to develop at least basic left hand chipping skills. I normally hit it out backwards with the toe of my sandwedge if I see a chance to get it back onto the fairway or even the green. Or just accept an unplayable lie and a penalty stroke.

One of our regular 4ball has started to carry a left handed wedge this season. I have only seen him use it once and from memory it was a decent shot.

Guy at our track can play left or right handed. Played against him in a match the first time I found this out. He was playing righthanded at the time, but when he came up against a tree, he whipped out a left handed 7 iron and played it perfectly, saving himself a lost shot digging it out backwards, or some such. Saw him playing the other day, and he was playing with a full left handed set. I don't know what it is exactly that causes him to determine which way he's going to play on any given day.....

My son can also swing a golf club left handed, looking as good as right. He has a left handed 7 iron, but has recently dropped it from the bag and just turns a club over if needed.

I used to be able to play full 6 iron shots with the club flipped over, toe down.

Nowadays I'm only comfortable at 8 iron to GW.

As with most things golf wise a little structured practice will pay dividends for most.

Father-in-law used to carry a left handed 7 iron and could strike a good ball using it... He was naturally left handed and when he played cricket he batted left handed... When he took up golf he played right handed largely because left handed clubs [secondhand] were harder to come by apparently...
