Was looking at mcc grips on a well known aution site and it seems some of the grips are twice or three times the price of what is claimed to be the same product. I wonder if they are?

Sellers usually treble the price when they have no stock left.
This should put anyone off buying and causing problems with sales they can’t fulfil and negative feedback.
It’s so they don’t have to cancel the listing .
Once they have stock back they will just lower the price on the listing again.

There's been a couple of grip threads recently, have posted in them as well. Likely the cheaper ones are fakes, unless they are from a genuine supplier like Adore/ Gamola and are maybe end of line. Golf Pride MCC grips do not seem to have much leeway for discounts via regular suppliers. I Have bought cheaper from ebay in the past, and wound up with what seemed fake to me. I still used them, got a season out of them. Wouldn't buy fakes knowingly or intentionally.
